Floppy Drive Problem

the other day i went to use the floppy drive (first time in ages) so i inserted the disc and double clicked the icon. nothing happened, after a few minutes or so i get the error message telling me to insert a disc. i've now also noticed that the data access light on the drive is constantly on. i have checked all the settings in the BIOS and all the physical lead connections but i still get the same problem.
if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated

Your drive is dead. This happened to me a few months ago. Buy a new one, they cost $7.

The drive access light will also constantly appear if you have the FDD cable plugged in the wrong way round. Well unless you have one of those drives that are idiotproof in that respect.

If the drive cable was upside down, Windows would not be able to detect the drive at all.

And yes. You can get a floppy drive, dirt cheap.

Isint the installation hard?

No. You place the drive in the bay, plug the cable into the drive, then plug the cable into the mobo.

thats really pissed me off because i bought the drive brand new for the pc that i built about a month ago
