Why keep the track a secret? Why not let us vote on the track? We like realism here but I've never heard of a series in real life that keeps the track a secret until race day.

True, but this isn't real life racing.

Nobody has a sense of adventure anymore.

It's meant to offer a challenge to everyone, and the one that comes out on top truly is the best and deserves the final grid spot. I would go as far to say that those who complain, probably are not that person.

Just because you dont like that part, you are quitting? Hey, I didnt like the fact that D3 had limited grip at Nurburgring. Yes, I complained because I was worried it would happen again, which thankfully hasnt happened since Nurb. But did I quit? NO! Just keep going man, Im tired of seeing people leave.

He's been like that since day 1. Honestly surprised he lasted this long.

^Ok. Since I complain and don't deserve, I withdraw from the series. Good luck everyone.

Didn't say you don't deserve it.

You have to come back man. Your in the wildcard for cryin out loud. Im 4 points from getting in as of right now. Im not the best but I keep on pushing. Please come back and finish the series out.

LOL, I had a crap race, getting punted taking me from 3rd to 2nd to last, in my first race. Then, in the last race, get very little practice, no qualifying, and have to take a call for work during the race. Climbed from last, up to 6th or 7th, and ended up DNF. I am still here. I am still trying. Why? Cause it is fun, and the competition is good.

Stick around. Or don't. I just know that I would.

Yay Jacks in the wildcard race c'mon jack you must keep that place :D

edit: I'm with turbo , I look forward to the challenge of a random track.

:odd:...

This thread is getting quite dramatic.
If someone wants to quit I won't plead for them to stay. Racing is only fun when your rival wants it just as much as you do.

To be honest, my knowledge of tracks is extremely limited. The only tracks I know are the ones I learned race by race in Mule's Integra series (plus Laguna and Nordschleife). I don't know a single track on the entire schedule except Laguna!

I can see how keeping the track a secret may cause some to have an artificial advantage over other drivers simply because they happen to have more past experience with the track. However, Turbo hasn't come up with this idea to be unfair. Instead, he just wants to generate some excitement, which keeping the track a mystery does.

Maybe a completely new custom track could be unveiled to the eligible wild card drivers at the last moment to even the playing field. The custom track could be chosen by the 15 drivers who have advanced to the finals already as there way of testing who is worthy to join them. This track could also be next seasons custom track, so the wild card race would be a test of the track as well. Everyone could be given one hour to practice, meaning the best overall driver will win.
This sounds pretty exciting to me. :D

OR, you could go all out and make it a night race in the rain at Nordschleife! :scared:

I'm just having a bit of fun. However Turbo wants to do the wild card race is fine with me.

It's really not a difficult, unknown track. If there is a single driver in the wildcard race that has NOT raced on this track before...then you need to play more.

If you look at Div1 standings, jackargent & I are both tied at 44 points. He's the bottom spot in the wildcard race at the moment. How will we settle a tie after that last round?

It's not a big deal to me, but if I'm not sure if it happened in past seasons.

I gave him the spot at the moment because he has completed all 3 races so far. I honestly don't think there will be a tie after the final race. 👍

Edit: What if I gave you guys a list of 5 tracks that it will be chosen from?

I would like that means the people in the wildcard race can have a few practice races on these tracks during the week leading up to the race. It would give a good idea what to expect in the race. 👍

Damn, you got me. :sly:

Great. I did some practice laps on Daytona oval. I found sector 1 and 2 was particularly difficult.

I couldn't find any good brake points, so I skipped them.

One trick I found out is to hold 5th gear all the way around the track and have the throttle wide open. It seems to work. Though I have a feeling I'm still about 1.5XX behind Aderrrm's pace:sly:.

Try holding it in fourth for sector 2, even if it hits the rev-limiter, I'm positive it's faster cause gears multiply torque and stuff.👍

That far off his pace? Sounds like you need to turn...

*Puts on sunglasses*

...a little more to the left.

YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I tried turning both left and right. I was still losing time.
Maybe I should try Jeff Gordon's driving school again, this car is heavy.

Joking aside, anyone running a room tonight? Maybe a test race at SPA?

I may or may not. Going to probably watch Ghost Hunters all night, and if I get an open spot I may fire up the game to take some pictures of the Twin Cities D2 race for the Flickr account.

Turbo , I just noticed that you have use the pic of me from the Nurburg race in the Legal Section on the first page. 👍 You have integrated all the other pics in the sections as well that makes this series stick out even more, with your excellent attention to detail.

I know it's kinda late but I needed to put my 2 cents in on the whole quitting discussion. I absolutely suck. I spin and finish last just about every race. I'm never on pace with what the leaders are running and usually end up a lap down. Would I quit? Hell freakin no! This is the only series I've been in so far that has lasted through the whole season. My only guaranteed chance to race online every week at a time that allows me to run after the house has settled down. The drivers are some of the coolest I've raced with. So while I will probably never run up front or finish on the lead lap, I ain't going anywhere because I love this series!

Very well put. :)

Glad to hear that Jay :)

Managed a 1/2 hour session at Spa tonight with a best lap of 2'38.6xx and I don't think I'll find much more than that, unless I'm missing something :D

Damn, I'm still quite a bit off the pace here, which I guess would put me on par with just about every other race this season :sly: . Although I did find a pretty big flaw/or found a. better technique per say in my driving style, so hopefully I can get my times down and a bit closer to the pointy end. This is the first series that I have been in that I can't go and make a bit of an adjustment if something isn't working right, now I have to make the adjustment with me, and I have struggled mightily with that.
Just to chime in on the whole LCQ thing, I think the surprise track is a great idea. When you are in that race it should be looked at as a honor that you are going to have a shot at the big championship race. You don't get breaks in any real racing series having to "win to be in" in a LCQ race. If you don't like the structure set forth, better make sure you don't put yourself in that position.... IMO, of course:)
