For all of you that say Shift 2 is boring/easy.

Set a quick race at night on the Nordschleife for three laps in a GT3 car.
Turn off all aids and driving line and give yourself 15 opponents.
Put handling on Elite and AI on hard.
Now I don't know the track that well, I know segments of it, but other parts I'm just clueless.
WHAT A RUSH!
This was just incredible.
Every position you have to fight for, it is just incredible.
You see and AI pulling away from you, and you think you won't catch him.
A few seconds later and you pass by his crashed car on the side of the road!
JUST INCREDIBLE!
Everybody needs to try this race.
The best part was I didn't know the track, but I still tried to get above 8th place (Any place lower was just impossible for me, I just didn't know the track) so I wanted to go slow but I had to keep pace to keep my position.
Needless to say, I spent 2 hours on this race yesterday, and I still haven't finished it!
I either finish last or second to last, or I crash because I'm trying to keep my position.
Just incredible :)

Edit
And how could I forgot, the Nordschleife is so dark! I seriously CANNOT see the next corner. I either have to know where the turn is, or let a car pass me so I can follow him and look through his headlights! How do racing drivers do it?!

I will have to give Nordschleife another go since I haven't raced since just after game launch. Nordschleife is great in that it is almost impossible to master. The AI isn't perfect but unpredictable in mostly a good way.
I hear of freezing on Nordschleife (and some other tracks) but I haven't had any as I tend to race cars below 1500 PI. Even the slowest cars (Legends, etc.) are a blast in this game.

Are you talking about the Nurburgring or the GP track?

Nurburgring is almost asinine for having a real competitive race. The track isn't wide enough in most places to make pass without contact in the game, and the slightest contact send you off track where you are instantly slapped with a track cutting penalty. Nothing makes me rage more than that Class A invitational....

Eh... I read a lot of negative things about Shift 2 but I didnt see a single comment calling it boring or easy... and there are reasons for that! :D

Now I personally cant do the race you suggest, my PS3 Slim 120 freezes when I take a GT3 to the Nordschleife... but I believe its lotsa adrenaline and fun!

No, Nordschleife is the 14-15 mile track.

Any race on the Nordschleife is great, it's the most awesome track there is and it's a real challenge to drive a clean lap on this track. Didn't really have much trouble with the track at night myself, but the problem is that the AI doesn't go slower when it's night. Pretty hard to win from them because of that.

They just know every corner of the track and exactly where to start braking and turn in. Doesn't matter if it's day or night, they just know which corner's coming up next and when it's coming.
I'm not a pro race driver in real life myself but I also have this on the Nordschleife. I've done so many laps on this track in GT5, and in Shift 2 the last month, driving at it during the night isn't even that hard anymore. Most of my laps are also clean laps, hardly ever go off the track. So yeah, if I can do it, it should be even easier for any pro race driver. :P

You can make passes without contact! I'm able to do it :) There's just times where yes, the car in front of you is slower but you just have to stick behind him. There is no way to pass cleanly.
That's another great thing about this game, every pass you think to yourself "Can I pass? Will I make it before the next corner?" I love how even simply passing another car is a thrill.

I race on PC, so no freezes for me :) Now I bet it's just as exciting with a class B or C! I'm gonna try it with slower cars too, maybe then I'll be able to keep up :P
I've seen people say the AI is stupid and it's too easy, not for me :D

Yeah the AI at night is quick and clean, unlike me :D I'll get the hang of it though, I'm just gonna play a couple more hours today :D

This. You can't just pull up behind someone and blow by them whenever. You have to plan ahead where you're going to be able to pass, make sure that you're the correct distance behind them and that you begin your run at the at the correct time so that you'll have enough extra speed at the right moment to get past cleanly.

It requires the skills that makes passing on a real race track so difficult. You have to have care, precision and timing to pull it off. And there are many times when passing is simply not an option. You are offered the choice of accepting that second place, or ending in a ditch. It makes those opportunities when a pass is available much more valuable.

I just want to say that I am very surprised about how great the AI is. Even they will take risks.

Yesterday, I did a GT3 race on one of the London tracks. I was leading the race when suddenly, an Audi R8 race car appears out of nowhere and blows past me like a rocket on the inside of a turn! I was like "Holy 🤬!" That just really surprised me. I just did not see something like that coming.

It's just amazing how intelligent the AI is. I simply don't feel the need to play online races in this game with AI like this.

I had exactly the same thing at the single event works race @ Bathurst... In a Delta Integrale against GT3 (?) Z4, battling for first place. What a fight! He gained a lot on the straights cause I forgot to tune the gears but in the corners uphill/downhill I got him everytime. Last lap I was in the lead at the beginning of the downhill straight but he flew by me, I nailed the chicane perfectly so I was almost in striking distance... but only almost, missed the breaking point by too much, he let me fly by wide and got through on the inside and won by around 0.5 sec... Sheesh! :D
