Budding Scribe?
Young writers get scribbling and you could win a monkey
Green Flag motoring assistance, sponsor of the British Touring Car Championship, has today launched a competition to find the next top journo-scumbag.
The competition is open to anyone under 18 years who is interested in motorsport and feel they have what it takes to progress into the fast-moving world of journalism (generally that's a passion for beer and another part time job to pay the bills).
They're inviting budding writers to submit a 500-750 word article on a choice of three subjects:
The Green Flag BTCC season so far;
Prospects for the rest of the season;
A race report from one of the Green Flag BTCC rounds.
All entries will be judged by motorsport expert Tony Jardine, together with a representative from the Green Flag BTCC team.
The winner will have the opportunity to shadow a leading motorsport journalist at the final round of the Green Flag BTCC at Donington Park, being held on the weekend of 21/22 September. As well as having access to the media centre, the winner will have his or her entry published in the official race programme and posted on the Green Flag website. More importantly the winner will also receive a cash prize of £500 and receive four VIP tickets to the race day event.
There will be three runners-up prizes of a cash prize of £50 each together with a pair of tickets to the last race.
To enter the Green Flag BTCC Young Writers Competition, written submissions need to include name, address, age, telephone number and email address and should be emailed to
comp@smart-pr.co.uk
The competition closing date is 1 September 2002.
Any budding writers who fancy scribing for PistonHeads drop us a line. Payment usually involves a burger and nasty coffee at one of the country's fine circuit-side eateries.
