any help PLEASE.

I'll help.

Hi

I know a lot of people like force feedback, but I don't. I have just bought a new Logitech Driving Force Pro for GT5 and, all in all, it is very good but how do I turn off feedback. I can turn it down but not off. If I can't, it is going back. Any help please. Thank you.

As the Acceptable Use Policy states -
No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums.

Turning off feedback is dependent on the game allowing you to turn it off. GT5 isn't out yet either, so we don't know. Are you talking about Prologue?

You can turn the force feedback on the DFP down to 60% by pressing select + R3 + left paddle shifter, the left green light will simply blink to let you know it's done it. Pressing the buttons again will put it back to 100%, as will unplugging it.

If you unplug the power it can still read the input but doesn't have feedback, correct?

At least I know I have had the power cable come unhooked and still been playing but lost my feedback.

EDIT: Never mind I didn't notice you edited his post in your quote.

Anyways, just unplug the power supply. it should still work, although I don't think it will center by itself, which kinda sucks.

Why spend £80 on a wheel with force feedback and then want to turn it off? You may aswell take it back and get a wheel with no FF...

Unless I am missing something the FF is the main reason for buying a high end wheel?

The reason I got it is it is a good wheel but I don't like feedback on any steering wheels and other non feedback wheels seem very cheap not so good. I would like this wheel but with feedback removed or option on wheel itselft to turn it of. I got for GT5 Prologue and yes if you unplug power it will not centre so car snakes down track.

Well, welcome to our community, Halosas. I'm guessing you're quite young (well, certainly younger than me, but that's not difficult.)

Don't mind Uncle daan, he just gets grouchy when no-one feeds him haggis. Do read through this page carefully, it is the GTPlanet "Acceptable Use Policy" and it simply means that there are a few rules... and generally, people stick to them, which is why GTP is such a cool place to hang out on the internet.

Have fun with your new wheel!

And remember, deep down, Uncle daan loves us all.

Except, maybe... oh, nevermind. :)

if you dont want any feedback on G25 while playing a game.. just unplug the power supply :-P

Well you are going to have to make a choice, full realism or none. Feedback is in real driving, just as returning to center. But if you turn off the feedback it is similar to having no power steering and you have to help it return to center also, except in that case in real life you will still have feedback.

I'm curious why you don't like feedback. That is a major selling point and it isn't an option to turn it off because that is a big reason why people buy it. I am guessing PD and Logitech didn't foresee someone not wanting it and then buying a wheel where that is the main selling point.

ok guys lets make a nice wheel with 900 degrees of steer, and force feedback... and y not make a button to disable the feedback.. cuz i know people dont like feedback...

hey man if u dont like feedback. but those early wheels that never had it.

Did you try to unplug it after the calibration.

Unplugging it won't help because you will have no self-centreing, and you will have to fight the resistance of the motor (when on, the motor "helps" you recover lock).

The DFP is not the wheel for you if you want no ffb...

I've used my wheel (dfp) plenty without it plugged in. Though I agree with the no centering, I have no problem driving in this manner. Due to a sore shoulder I had to unplug the wheel. I obviously did not perform my best but I could still use the wheel as without it plugged in it is almost freewheeling.

If by almost freewheeling you mean "It feels like turning a whisk in wet concrete", then yes, it's almost freewheeling.

The DFP has an awful amount of internal mechanical resistance. This is the area in which the G25 has made the most improvement.

The FFB in GT4 does tend to be way over the top. Its is realistic to a point some of the shaking at high speeds is bit annoying. I noticed this only after taking a break from GT for a couple weeks to play TOCA. The FFB in TOCA feels more like wide tires on pavement than it does in GT. I do like some of it in GT but theer is a point where it gets to be too much.

I guess since we also can't use laziness promoting slang words that shorten our sentences then I guess we better stop using these as well: DFP, GT2, GT3, GT4, GT5, FFB, PS2, PS3...:scared:
