One of the iconic cars of fast&furious4 It has a 5.8LV8/248hp@5400rpm/299ft-lb of torque@3600rpm/1798-KG/5 barring crankshaft,OVC,8 cylinder layout, and 2 valve per cylinder.I think this would be a great edition for the ford lineup on "GT6 but there are more than one version of this car"pick your poison".

Screw the 351C motor, give me a big block 429 SCJ with the drag pack option. 494hp/503 lb-ft of torque!

The 351 Cleveland had more HP than the 429 that year. 351 made 248 HP and the 429 with Ram Air made only 205. Not sure where you got 494 HP, but no Torino ever was rated that high. The 1970 429 made 375 HP (gross hp) The 72 was rated at net hp. In 73 the 460 made 269 hp net

LOL.

Where are you getting your numbers from? Couple things wrong with your post there bud.

1. No 351C has EVER made more than a 429 apart from MAYBE the Boss 351 DP. The Boss 351C motor was rated 335 horsepower, and that was it's best. Low compression motors made around 250-290. The 429 was never any lower than 360-375. Hot Rods factory stock Boss 351C build made 383 horsepower.

2. The 494 number was not a stock rated number. It came from a bone stock engine dyno as seen here. Read the description.

I'm going by factory ratings. Look it up. And the 72 429 didn't make as much HP as the 351. Also the drag pack option didn't change hp ratings. It was the addition of an oil cooler and lower rear gears. And it wasn't available after 1971. And that "bone stock" engine on the dyno shouldn't have headers on it.

I'm well aware what the factory ratings are.

And the 72 429 didn't make as much HP as the 351.

I beg to differ. The only one that made more was the Q-code motor, and in actuality, the 429 made just as much, just not rated as high. Given the specs, the Q code motor shouldn't have made that much power anyways. And good luck finding a Q code motor anyways.

I know what it is. I'm a Ford guy...

It didn't go by that name. You could still get the gears and the optional oil cooler.

And that "bone stock" engine on the dyno shouldn't have headers on it.

They rated them with headers. I don't see the issue. Even still, it's only good for a couple horsepower.

We are talking about 1972/73. Low compression motors were all you could get. For 1972 the 429 didn't make as much HP as the 351 Cleveland those are facts. If you are aware of the ratings you should know that. Where did you come up with the 494 HP number? A youtube video of a supposedly bone stock motor?Torino engine specs.pdf
