I've seen quite a few Foxbody Mustang threads within this section of GTPlanet including one that did mention the SVO Mustang, but that thread title also talked about the other Fox Mustang variations and you can't exactly do that due to the "one car per suggestion" rule and technically suggesting just a foxbody Mustang is not suggestion one exact car.

In a summary, I'm making this suggestion due to the fact every other foxbody suggestion just about is way too general and I like the Mustang SVO. Note: It's called the SVO simply because that's who was making this Mustang model, SVO stands for "Special Vehicle Operations". In a way, this was the precursor to the SVT Mustangs.

My dad actually has an 1986 one. The car was great despite people criticizing it's 4-cylinder engine. The thing beat all the V8s until I believe '87 or '88.

175 HP from '84 to '85 1/2 (Per Wikipedia, 175 @ 4400 / 210 ft-lbf @ 3000)
205 HP for '85 1/2 (Per Wikipedia, 205 @ 5000 / 248 ft-lbf @ 3200)
200 HP for '86 (Per Wikipedia, 200 @ 5000 / 240 ft-lbf @ 3200)

It's amazing how the turbo wakes up the 2.3L I4. In normally-aspirated EFI form, it made 88 HP. The block, head, and bottom end are virtually identical on the turbo engine, with only the pistons swapped out for forged (and dished to lower compression).

Nope, the GT with the 302 was making 210 HP in 1985.

It did drop to 200 HP in 1986 with the switch to fuel injection, which may be why the SVO was downrated to 200 HP.

@RandomCarGuy17 These look like bumps to me, stop doing that or I will hit the report button, I am not afraid to.
These updates of my are NOT bumps nor were intended to be, but I'll stop leaving them though.

Update: Changed the title to fit within the new guidelines, 1984 is when the SVO first went into producation, but I still honestly would prefer the 1985 version. That's when it had the most power.

I'm a Mustang guy so I voted but still I rather get punched in the face by Dave Bautista than drive a Fox....
Yeah so SVO's an okay car but it always didn't feel like a proper pony/muscle car to me, Ford trying to change the Mustang brand into "Personal Coupe".
............Thank god they saw the error of their ways.

And now Ford has a Mustang with a turbo 4 again. And it's a 2.3 again.
Yup, amazing eh?!

From here, I'll have to disagree as the Mustang wasn't meant to even be a muscle car in the first place. The SVO to me seems to fill the pony car shoes well with how good of a performer is and that's what the pony car has been partially about to me. Also, I never really thought of the SVO as Ford trying to turn the Mustang into a "personal coupe".

BTW, while I'm here, I'll add a few more pictures for my thread.

My apologies for the slight confusion as I didn't mean the SVO, but the whole 3rd gen 'Stangs. I see SVOs as Ford's attempt to remind people that Fox Mustang was a performance car.
..............Still ugly as sin tho'....

Ah, alright then. Did Ford really try to advertise it that way in the 80s?
Well, whether they did or not, I still say the Foxbody in general still captured to pony car vibe to me.

and I'm going to disagree with this. The front could look better, but ugly as sin? Pfff, no. That would be the Pontiac Aztec.

..................Please don't make fun of Aztek!! It's an important milestone in the history of GM - it killed Pontiac!! It might get you next you know. So play nice. :D
You think the SVO Mustang is ugly, but you go on and defend the Aztec?!

......................ya clearly didn't read what I wrote....:banghead:
Ya know I was being sarcastic, right?
Yes, I knew you were being sarcastic, but decided to reply with a serious comment anyway. I was trying to see how long you would keep your joke up. :P
