Ford Edge

The 2007 Ford Edge features a new 3.5-liter, 250-hp, 240-lb-ft 24-valve dohc V6 linked to a new six-speed automatic transmission created for front-drive applications. The transmission, which also can be used in all-wheel-drive vehicles and is capable of handling up to 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, is the product of a joint engineering effort with General Motors. The engine, which Ford says will power one in five Ford vehicles by 2010, is designed to accommodate hybrid technology, direct gasoline injection and turbocharging. Look for the Edge in dealerships next fall, in front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Blazin's Note: The Mazda is much better in my opinion.

I still find it funny though that Ford and GM worked on a project together.

The Mazda version is far better. I see the Ford version has a completely different engine. I think the engine in the Mazda version would make it funner to drive.

Actually, this concept might turn out to be more important than the CX-7 due to one thing: The engine and drivetrain. (Okay, that's TWO things).

It's about time Ford got a real V6. The old one is seriously hampering the ability of the Escape/Tribute and the Mazda6/Fusion/Zephyr/etc/etc/etc to compete in the upper midsize market.

And a 300hp enabled FF tranny? I'd love to have one of those in an upcoming Focus RS... as if Ford cared enough to make one.

It reminds me of a Honda. Japanese Odyssey front-end and the Acura MDX rear-end. Design is really cool though. 👍 I like it better than the look of CX-7. Just like Fusion, that grille gotta go. Ugliest grille in auto business. Looks like a giant Gillette Mach 3. :scared:

I think Ford should replace the ongoing Explorer with it. Explorer's were really nice looking SUV, until the recent redesign. Ford should just put it out of misery.

Its still better than the Freelander, and thats saying a lot...

It looks better than the CX-7, but it still looks too car-ish, I think. :indiff: Plus, the front end just makes it look...disgruntled.
