Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd. (FHI), a global manufacturer of transportation and aerospace-related products and the maker of Subaru automobiles, announced the introduction of the new Subaru Forester STi Version in Japan. The new model will be for sale through its Subaru dealerships nationwide beginning on May 6.

Developed as a “pure” sport utility vehicle (SUV) with superb on-road driving performance, the Forester STi Version first debuted in February 2004 and has since enjoyed popularity and high acclaim in Japan. Further embodying the pure SUV concept, the new STi features a 2.5 L, 4-cylinder, DOHC turbo engine – a horizontally opposed boxer engine that provides ample torque and high power output. The model is packaged with a 6-speed manual transmission, 18-inch tires, and a high-performance braking system that incorporates Brembo components. It is accentuated by sporty interior and exterior designs, highlighted by a newly designed front bumper and grille, front bucket seats, as well as a minimum ground clearance of only 170 mm, 30 mm lower than other Forester models.

The Forester STi Version is the newest addition to the Forester series, which has been developed around the basic concept of a crossover SUV with the best of both worlds. With dynamic and stylish exterior designs, the Forester has been highly reputed for its outstanding driving performance, striking an uncompromising balance between excellent driving stability and stellar riding comfort.

The regular turbo forester is on my wife and my possible purchase list...I would have to do ALOT of begging to go up to something as wonderful as that !

What a Beauty !

Power and torque wise that's not a huge step up from the turbo charged Forester already available now is it? I guess the suspension and brakes will still be enough to significantly improve performance.

I really hope they'll bring it to North America, I'd take this thing over a full fledged WRX STi.

Evo did a report on the Forester STi and Impreza STi PPP. They gave it alot of acclaim, rating it the same as an Impreza!

Few quite know what a giant-slayer they're dealing with in the upright Impreza-on-stilts Forester STi

If this thing really does qualify as an SUV, this is the only SUV I want right now. :)

No, it's not much of a step at all. Both the current 3.0 liter H6 and the turbo 2.5 liter H4 make 250 hp, so 265 isn't anything to write home about. But the Japanese STi's were never about big power anyway. The Japan market WRX STi makes the same power as the Japan market WRX. (they both have 2.0 liter engines and they both make over 300 hp.) It's the suspension and aero goodies that really make up the STi package, changing the WRX from a rally car to a track car. They do however do a bit of tuning to bring midrange torque up.

[EDIT]
We power hungry americans, may be lucky enough to get the 300 hp version of this engine in our Forester STi as well. It would do them some good to make it up to us, for turning the regular WRX into a "Sport compact" for the N/A market. Instead of the full on 300 hp (I'd settle for 280) 2.0 liter rally beast.

Hey, the Evo made it across the pond without getting americanized. Why not my baby.

Not bad at all, it's great to see more high performance vehicles with practicality too. I certainly want one!

Yeah looks great, I like white sports cars.... neverthelless I would by an Impreza WRX STi instead.... better performance and better looks in my opinion... but if I'd take a SUV than this one 👍

This bad boy is actually pretty sick. It surely has the DNA of a sport utility vehicle and its fellow Impreza STi. Man. I'm sure this thing will perform off road. On road, its prescence should be as mean as its "I'm not your average Japanese automobile" image. This is mean!

I'd still get an Impreza if I was looking for a Subaru, but this would be my other toy bearing the Stars of Pleiades.

could it outperform a cayenne?

looks brutishly sexy. i like it.

Well always would depend... probaby not on the straight^^ but the Impreza WRX STi outperforms the Cheyenne Turbo and the 4WD Gallardo on the snow... almost unbeatable... only the Evo is even....

yeah, most likely not on the straight. it was the track i was talking about.

It's about time I've found a car to orgasm all over. Err, oh ****—did I just say that out loud?
