To anyone who has finished this championship, is it just me or was this series way to easy.

Im not the best of drivers but my lap times were consistently 3 to 4, and sometimes 5 s a lap faster than the AI, with best laps at 6 or 7 seconds better.

It looked to me like the AI slowed down way to much on some corners.
The series was still fun, but after lapping the AI multiples times on the first 10 tracks, I would lap the competition once or twice and let Bsped take over on the other 5. Won the series with 150 pts. And the AI spread the points around so the 2nd place finished with less than 60 points.
Only on la sarthe and suzuka i didnt lap anyone cuz it seemed imperative to inspect each and every sand trap.

Did everyone else find this series a let down i terms of difficulty, especially compared to the rest of the game and the F1 series in GT3.
And any thoughts to why the lack lustre competition, and with the distribution of the AI points.

Still great to fun drive the formula car though.

I put 200kg of ballast on for most races.

It was a LOT closer.

What do you expect? You're in the same car as the AI, the AI is miserably slow.

Try using an LMP or group C car for more of a challenge.

ill give it a go, just didnt realize the ai was thaaaaat slow!!
There are at least two reports in the Write-Ups Forum detailing wins with an AUDI A8 & the SAUBER. Both had "Stock" HP & chassis set-ups. If you add boost you'll be just as dissappointed as you were running the series w/Formula GT! :irked:
"Good Luck"...O.G. :D

It outright stunk. The Opel Speedster races were more challenging. A few of the Missions were more challenging. GT3 F1 races were more challenging since you could select slower cars to compete with. Why the letdown in GT4 F1 I'll never understand. I hadn't considered about adding ballast though. Interesting but it would probably only be enough handicap to have you lap the field one less time.

Its the most obvious example of the basic problem with GT4: If you enter a race with a car that is pretty much the equal of the cars your AI "competition" is running, its pretty hard to lose.

Sure, you can spend a lot of time coming up with an outclassed car that gives the AI a chance against you, but we shouldn't have to go through all that. The program should allow us to choose our difficulty level, and it doesn't.

When I was running A-Spec, it was indeed too easy. However, the B-Spec driver made many many mistakes in addition to being too slow, so I had to closely monitor everything while he was running; a royal pain. For a challenge, you could run B-Spec for half the race, and then see if you have what it takes to erase his mistakes before the end :)

I'll keep that in mind. I like close races, like the 159-point Like the Wind race I did today. I only won it because I skipped pitting and had to do the last lap and a half on my wheel rims, but it was still good.

im still currently doing the formula gt championship atm.
ill a-spec it to the point where im about 40-50 secs ahead after about 2 pit ins then ill let the computer take over on b-spec a increased pace.

had no problem with races 1-11 but the nurb i just cant do.
i got around the first lap fine with a few minor grass issues!
but when the second lap came around it all fell to pieces!

about 2/3 of the way thru the lap my rear tyres were 'scorchio!'
so much so that controlling the car was near impossible.
i fell to 2 whole minutes behind the AI cos i could;nt keep the car on track, massive oversteers with the slightest touch means cornering was very, very difficult! :grumpy: so i cant be bothered with it now i just gave up and let the AI control it.

im gonna come 6th no doubt about it but i dont really care cos ive wn the overall championship anyway!!

I've just started B-Speccing it and my driver's having a great lot of trouble.

Every race seems boring and dependant on pit stops. Just like the real thing, then. ;)

After 2 qualifying attempts for this race --(did not want to try to pass the dumb ai on this track and only qualified 4th....1st lap from the pits, 2nd lap with red tires and time to pit again so didnt bother to qulaify again)---i raised the ride height to like 60 or so and softened the spring rate a good bit, this hepled significantly for the ride. And changed the toe to -2 i think......read that on some other thread.
All the other tracks were run with stock settings

I'm not brave/good enough for that - 100kgs and and 5-10 less downforce than max, for 105-120pts per race. Some weren't exactly nail-biters, but some races were quite challenging - didn't manage Suzuka first time, have yet to re-try.

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but anyway, I have just completed the Formula GT Championship, and I did it all in A-Spec, and all in an R89C. I won the championship by about 50 points. It was rather challenging, there were some races that are just impossible to win unless you drive the Polyphony Formula 1 car.

I'm 3 tests away from getting my S Liscense, so I can't A-spec them. I do agree that the B-spec driver requires constant attention, and I usually go one more lap past the point where it says it should pit, and that's where I get my lead normally. I've won 4 races so far, and I figure that if I win 10 of the 15 races, I should be able to beat the championship. I just want the Sauber!! :D

the formula gt world championship is pretty easy if u a-pec it. when u b-spec....your driver, Bob, is a slow pain in the ass. but im lazy so i b-spec most of them.

Actually I did a-spec 12/15 races to get the C9. Then now I had completion percent on my mind so I went back and B-Spec'd the race, with some tuning B-spec ran away with the race.

I found the ring rather difficult myself thanks to its twitchy rear end, the problem i found was with the Limited Slip Differencial causing an abundent lack of grip round long high speed corners. Try playing round with it a bit and also soften the springs and dampers.

the only thing that makes this race hard at all is the face that the pitting is all messed up. you pit, you get passed. then they pit, and you pass them back. so its best to pit with them if possible while still maintaining the lead.
