I can't see how you spin with medium traction control on kakundoo i use that as well and i'm on the controller to.

I know, but I was playing at Montreal on medium, and every time I touched the throttle, my car would spin. I'm not sure if this had something to do with the setup I was running, but I couldn't get any decent traction without losing masses of time.

For race distance, I was thinking at least 20%, probably more, to incorporate a decent strategy as well as the dynamic weather hopefully coming into play.

We'll be running qualy as well I presume?
9 or 10PM GMT Sunday nights is perfect time for me.

Collisions and damage also on?

If automatic shifting is allowed I am in. It is the only assist I use at the moment. Can you please let me know which assists will be allowed. Thanks:tup:

Edit: doesn't bother me what car I have

Im already in the URS but if you need numbers Id love to join. One organised race a week isnt enough for me.

I also see that some of you participated in the CE Championships (before my time, lol) so should be good competition.

Please add me if its ok, GTP_DOUQA

Any car will do.

Yes, definitely qualifying. Full GP weekend (Minus practice) to get that great Grand Prix experience. And yes, damage will be on. To my knowledge, there is no stupid lag bubble like on CE, and with good connection, and good racing of course, there shouldn't be any unnecessary collisions between racers.

Yeah, automatic is allowed. The other assists will probably be:

TC - Full
ABS - Undecided (Not sure if it really makes much difference on this game?)
Gear shift - Either

They're the only assists I can think of at the moment, apart from Pit limiter and something else to do with the pits.
For these, I think we will have as mandatory, I'm still not sure yet. But I think they will be on so that the pit stops are a little more varied from person to person.

I'll add everyone else who has applied :)

EDIT: Since Peter really wants the Ferrari, I guess I could give it to him, i'll have the Mercedes, and since Spagetti doesn't mind, he can have the remaining BMW Sauber. If you're still up for it, that is Peter.
Which should bring our number to 12 :) Anyone else beyond this point goes into the second division.

Ahh yes, thanks LewyOs. Offline, I have the racing line on, but if the majority want the racing line just on corners, or off for the Championship, then I wouldn't mind.

Tyre sim on.
Fuel sim on.

Yes I'll have the BMW if you insist.

With all cars set to equal how do you go about testing offline.
If I wanted to create a setup how do I go about it? What car do I base it on.

I'm not sure how it works with cars equal.

Yeah, tyre and fuel sim on, definitely.

All the cars online, when equal, are based on the Red Bull, so that would be the car to test in offline, so I'm sure you could go about working out a setup through the Red Bull.

IMO the racing line should definitely be allowed. I don't use it but it makes the competition more accessible for those who don't get any practice in. It doesn't affect anyone else's race and isn't really an advantage as if you're using it you're not getting the optimum braking points.

Tbh though i'd prefer if the ABS and TC switched off, certainly TC no higher than medium because then the game is just too arcadey.

I think it's absolutely brilliant that we now have an F1 game that simulates tyre and fuel usage online as this will add so much to the experience. This is also why I think it's important not to have TC set to full as that would give an advantage to those who burn up their tyres in qualifying and the early laps of the race.

I take it we will do all 19 races over 19 weeks?

That's a very good point. I'll give medium another go, and actually see how it affects my lap times after I get used to it. I still remain to say for the moment that the throttle input on the controller isn't great, but for now i'll stay open to suggestion and give it another go, especially as it could well, as you said, add to the experience.

Yes, the season will take place, 19 races over 19 weeks :)

I think the TC control is for the benefit of pad users.
I've not tried the pad myself but have heard people having problems regulating the throttle with buttons or triggers whatever they use.

Racing line is a benifit to me online because I can almost guarantee when others are going to brake infront off me lol.

On another note just throwing this out there maybe for others to try or what not.

We used to run a series on forza, and after awhile the same old faces were either winning or the same sad faces were losing.
Obviously the losers every week were hard to keep interested after awhile.

We developed a system where by the top 3 winners suffered a 30, 20 and 10 pi hit the following week. This made the series a more balanced and challenging for all participants and went down quite well.

Don't really know why I posted that but oh well.

That idea might help more if I knew what pi was :P, maybe i'm just being a little slow at the moment lol. Care to explain? :)

Performance index. I'm sorry not explaining that.
Basically all cars could potentially be tuned up to 325 pi for example. Anything over that would raise the class of car.

The previous weeks winner would only be able to tune up to 295 pi. Maybe take off racing gyres add weight etc. Basically a handicap system.

F1 scores the top 10 as you know.
We are only running with 12 maybe we could ignore the computers scoring so that the extra 2 drivers will always pick up points.

Just a thought. Better to get it out there before it starts. Maybe see what other members want.

SOrry for double post.

Actually I don't know the online scoring system for a lobby of twelve perhaps they pick up points anyhow. I don't know.

Okay then, that makes sense. The only problem I have with that, is that it would be difficult to enforce. Plus, if there are people who don't use advanced setups during the races, then there is no real way to limit their performance. Unless there is a feature I don't know about? Lol.

I think it would be easier to stick to the regular 2010 points system. It has worked this year in real F1, and I don't see why our own season won't be just as competitive. For sure, there will be drivers who are quicker than the rest, but I can still see some intense battles going on during the races and eventually the Championship.

The only way to achieve anything similar would be to run with cars set to 2010.

A list of cars from the top to bottom in performance ie

Redbull
Mclaren
Ferrari
Renault
Xxx
Xxx
Xxx
HRT
Virgin
Lotus.

The winner would get put in a lotus the following week and the loser Would get a chance in a ferrari.
Basically reverse order.

Only ideas.

Im happy to tun equal, keeps things nice and easy.

Ps appreciate what your doing mate.
Thank you.

Sorry i forgot...my PSN is Zeekon_9.

Good news that either manual/automatic shifting is on the cards. I just do not have the time at present to practise manual. I dont think automatic shifting is an advantage speedwise anyway. Just gives me a bit more time to consentrate on traffic, breaking points etc. Racing line is fine with me.

Edit: and TC medium/ABS for those who want/need it, I am not bothered. Nice clean racing with a group of nice people is all i want (my needs are simple lol)

We could do, but we'd need to find out also the time difference between the cars. We'll see how things go in the first few races. We can always make adjustments :)

Thanks, I appreciate everyone joining, and i'm sure we'll have a great time. I must say that I am looking forward to racing Shaggy the most though :)

@Lefty, We currently have 12 people in the first division, unless Peter drops out. So we do need people in division 2 if there are more people interested in this Championship. So feel free to join and tell me what car you want for Div.2

I looked at the OP and it just looks like a signup roster and generalities as to how the program will be run. What is your schedule, and when will you post information that is concrete?

Well, seeing as the roster is now complete, I probably should get on to making the proper thread with all the setting and rules. As well as the roster, Championship tables and everything else. The schedule is one race every week, in the order of the 2010 season on Sunday nights. I think the times will be at 10pm. But like I said, the concrete information will be in the new thread.

For now, I would say that the settings are:

TC: Medium/Full (TBD)
ABS: Allowed
Gearing: Manual/Automatic
Racing Line: Allowed
Collisions/Damage: Full
Full race weekend (Qualifying and race)
Race distance: Undecided, but at least 20%
Tyre sim: On
Fuel sim: On

I'll keep this thread open for other people to sign up into division 2, and I still need confirmation from Peter as to whether he'll be racing in the Ferrari or not.

Hi guys.

Was waiting for some concrete ground rules to be laid down but looks like I missed my chance in doing that. I dont know if anyone here has been following the URS thread either, but I've been very vocal in there and so I wouldn't argue with you declining me a position in this championship anyway. I'm just looking for clean and fair racing thats all. I'm sure they'll get there in the URS but I think in here you have the potential for that right off the bat.

I have noticed two drivers from the URS also wanting to race here by the way. If either of those (or anyone really) decides to drop out I would be very happy to fill their spot. Likewise if you do manage to get another division going I would be available to join that too.

You're very welcome here, as is everyone Captain Roh :)

Unfortunately for me, my PS3 just broke again :( with F1 2010 still inside, and with no money to get it repaired, or get a new one, it looks like I won't have one for a while. It's up to you what you guys do now. You can either appoint someone else to take over the Championship, or simply wait.

Sorry :(

Sorry to hear that Kakundoo that really sucks. Are you out for an indefinite time period or do you have an idea when you could be back?

If you're going to be a month or so I'm not sure how many people would wait. If you were willing to still carry on organising the championship thread, all you need do is hand over the hosting of the race to a trusted CE friend.

Keep searching the net for a fix to your problem anyway, its not always clear cut broken, I thought mine had died once but I managed to revive it 👍

Jesus Christ Jamie, that's awful luck. Was it a PS3 slim this time? Do you have any idea when you would be able to come back? I don't think it would hurt to delay starting the series as it's still a very new game to all of us. But I think I might be interested in taking over otherwise but i'd need to give it a little thought because I would want to make sure I could have enough time to put into making it a good series.

Well, technically it was a friend's old 60gb which had broken and then fixed, he got a replacement and let me borrow this one.

I'm really not sure when i'm going to be back online. I don't have the equipment necessary to fix either one, neither do I have the money to get someone else to fix it, let alone buy a new one.

For now, it seems I will probably be out for a few months. My 18th birthday is next Monday, which probably just adds salt to the wound, and I know I won't get a replacement or anything. My only hope is that I may be able to fix it with the £100 i'm getting for selling the Xbox 360 I won whilst doing a competition on F1:CE, although I was hoping to use that money to get a wheel :(
