Now I know everyone's going to flame me for this, but oh well. I've been thinking lately that the GT3 forum might be starting to lose some of its gusto. It seems to me that 95% of the new threads are from newbies (nothing wrong with newbies, by the way, we all were at one time) asking questions that have all been answered, or old topics that have long been worn out. I can't say that I have any real ideas on what to do about livening things up, but I thought maybe you could share your thoughts and opinions on the subject. Tell me if you agree with me on this subject or not, and maybe some suggestions.

Thanks.

(if you're going to flame me, don't waste your time. PM someone who gives a ****. Arguing and flaming over the internet is like the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded. Sad? maybe. True? yes.)

I AGREE WITH YOU....

I visited this site for the first time for 3-4 months ago..things were cool 5-6 weeks, but then the quality sunk...

To much people talking trash too

(by the way the engine sound IS synth)

That's just how it is with any discussion forum with any "timely" topic. Newbies just discovering the game will always come in and ask old questions. If you enjoy talking about the game, then you'll enjoy helping them out. If not, then there's plenty of other forums @ GTPlanet you can participate in...

Personally, I can't tell that much of a difference between when the GT3 forum first started, and the way it is now. You're probably losing interest with the game.

Talking trash? Could you please go into greater detail here? I've invested way too much time and money for flamers to tear down my community.

How did the quality go down? Are you talking about the posts by people or the site? If you are talking about the site that is not true if anything this change has been for the better.

im just finding out theres more to this community than just gt3. lol i kindof feel at home here. How can you guys say that
quality sunk...
? dudes common now. this is like to coolest places on the web for me! even though i dont post alot, i like to read what other people have to say. and it dont have to be about gt3, it can be about nething. ::snobbs:: i love this place

okay, im out

I dont want to diss this board, NO WAY!!

This IS the best forum for GT3 (or any GT), is juzz dat....yeah i do no, is just not the same!!

All my compliments to the site and the board itself, (i'd wish every board was this effective!!!)

(an example of people talking trash; the rockymavia (or something) that claims the engine sound in the game is actual REAL recorded samples playing.....

I KNOW its bitching about small things, but i concidered this board for a thrusty resource.....(the modifiers/administrators closed the post, so i couldnt defense my self, it kinda pissed me off!!!!

Still. im not a hater, I STILL visit and use this board, AND you STILL have all my respect, hell of a job!!!!

BIGGUPS

SQUADJOT

...by the way...i dont think that this board should be about this or that.....GT!!!!!

I dont know about you, but i'm the nosy one, I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GAME, and seek my information among serious and devoted people, not people talking about all kinds of crap

peace!!!!

I have to agree with NocturnalPS. Yes, there is little that seems to be freash news in reguards to GT3. I am no longer searching for tips. I'm at 98% complete and just need to sit down and do the rest. Does this lack of needing knowlege make my opinion of this site or the forums any less? I don't think so. And yes, there are still newbie's that come to the site. I for one enjoy helping them out, just as I was givin much advise when I was a newbie, not to say I'll hold their hand, but I'll guide them in the right direction. Oh yeah, I almost forgot....GT3 is only one facit of the forums and this site. Sure it was/is the major Buzz word for a few months as it will continue to be, but there is so much more.

I have seen just a couple of "bad mouth" members here. One has long ago left the forum, never to return. The other has changed his/her ways and now offers something positive to this community. I'm just curious, as other's must be, specifically what your talking about. One "specific" topic can only be discussed so much then the thread dies. That's how these forums work, but wait....there's a lot more topics to be disscussed here, I assure you.

I'll get off my soap box now. Later and good racin' or whatever it is you do..

I haven't noticed it losing it's edge...probably because I haven't even been in the GT3 forum for like a month...:(

I haven't played GT3 or PS2 since August 8th!

Even though I don't play Gran Turismo anymore I still love this site:D

1. I'm not badmouthing the forum. If I didn't think it was a great site to visit, I wouldn't come here.

2. I don't think I've lost interest in the game. It'll probably be a long time before that happens.

3. I was ONLY making an observation, and hoping to start some thoughtful posting, which is obviously happened here.

4. This thread was not intended to make anyone mad or upset them.

Hopefully I'm not on anyone's ****list because of this, guys. I don't have a problem with anyone here, and I think the forum has a lot of potential left. JUST TRYING TO MAKE SOME CONVERSATION.

Anyway, that's were I stand.

Thanks and happy posting.;)

I know how it is. But what's a moderator to do? As long as there have been hobbies, there have been newbies. And as long as there have been Americans, there have been people that don't want to look for answers when they can have them handed to them personally.

Besides, we all started somewhere. Maybe when GT4 comes out, some of these current newbies will provide some stiff competition in a series, or give US tuning/driving tips.

I talk some trash myself, (the ZeroCool85 thread) but I try not to offend. I dont flame newbies for silly repeat questions, and I dont tell people to learn how to drive. Good natured trash talking is as much a part of online forums as bench racing is to real racing. Its all in good fun as we are all friends here.

I have to say that the forums have interested me a little less recently, but that is a function of my having a better understanding of the game. I like to think that I have a pretty good bead on both the game and cars in real life, so I have taken it upon myself to answer questions that others might not know how to answer correctly. I like typing out 5 pages on how torque and horsepower are related. I am a grad student and a TA, so it makes me feel good to know that somebody is getting something from me that helps them in some way.

So yes, the quality has changed, but it is because my standards have risen with my knowledge. Soon, there may be a point where many of us can have highly detailed discussions on more advanced topics than "what car should I buy" but that point isnt here yet. I like this place.

Brian,

You've hit the nail on the head with your comments, I am a newbie here and being British pretty new to the game too.

Certainly there has been a huge amount of info posted here which I would have asked questions on had the answers not already been here in the 1st place. I have had little cause to post becuase of this reason. In a way this is sad, but it is only due to the stirling efforts of everyone here, especially the moderators in providing such an excellant resource. I don't know the stats but I am sure the forum must be getting just as many if not more views than ever.

There will always be people who find the most obscure things to talk about and by it's nature this game encourages people to be fanatical and cover every inch of detail in order to get the best from it. Those that talk about the sounds in the game should be respected for having such a keen ear and for soaking this game up as the full immersive experience it is meant to be.

I've have picked up so much from visiting this forum in the last few days and look forward to being as 'fanatical' as the best of them.

As a 'newbie' (awful name!) I guess I have to fess up - I started a "what's your favourite car" thread and it must be old news for a bunch of you here, although I did check for the thread before and didn't find it.

Any time you get together and talk about your passion you are going to cover a lot of new ground at the start and then innovation is going to trail off as time goes on.

This site is great for those of us who've just arrived and can find out about prize car lists and tune ups and stuff. We may not have much new news to give, but we appreciate the stuff you guys have posted.

At the end of the day, there are only so many questions you can ask - they get covered in the early days of the site and then new people arrive and ask them again. From my limited experience its sometimes hard to find if a topic has been covered before.

But its a great site and I say 'good work fella!!' (Brit joke) to those of you who got this one going.

Seems like everybody wants part of this so I might as well to.

I hear what Z06 and squadjot are talking about and agree with them in a way. The way is that the posts seem to be the same old thing in the GT3 area and thats why members get upset because now everybody thinks they know whats right. No big deal but thats what gets everybody going.

Also if you noticed that the Rumble Strip as come along way from about a month ago and is gonna be the most popular thread soon. That tells us that the topics are not GT3 related and the members are posting there now.

Hopefully another good racing game will come out soon so that we can start a new thread about it so we can keep this place alive!!:)

Guys, I NEVER said there was anything wrong with newbies. That is what the forum is for: so people can get as much info about the game as possible. I for one like to help out people who are new to the game. Hell, when I first joined the forum, I was only 3% finished with the game, and I had all kinds of questions that were graciously answered by more senior members. This thread has somehow turned into a discussion about newbies, when it was intended to be a suggestion board about ways of livening up the forum. I also want to make it clear that I still enjoy the forum very much. The thread was meant to be a positive thing, not to cause arguments.

Z06,

I appologize to you personally if it seems like I'm argueing with you. You did, however, ask for an opinion. Most people who spend a lot of time on this board has set their roots and take any negitive comments about the board as personal attacks on themselves. I don't think we can make the "GT3 Forum" more exciting or as exciting as it once was when we were newbies. I really don't think that's possible because of the nature of the Topic. The solution could be more activity in others parts of the forum. Up for a challenge? It's the honor system, but you could participate or organize a racing challenge. That might perk your interest. What do you like? What get's you excited in the forums? How can it enrich your life? Hummm..... Gonna have to do some research on this. Here's a list of other topics that might interest you:

If you interested in automotive anything, there should be something in here for you to get excited about. :)

Peace.

In a nutshell:
When I first joined, there was a completely different set of people that dominated the postings. Scott The bomb, Josh, and Big Blocks Rule just to name a few. For all of us, as time went by, we exhausted pretty much all of our questions about GT3. I can't remember the last time I started a thread in the GT3 section of the community. I pop in from time to time and answer question, or give input even though it has almost all been said before. As current members fade until something new appears to spark our interests, newer members, or "Newbies" are going to dominate. They are the ones that will start posting 30 times a day, and soon they will be the elite as we once were.
That is why off Topic forums like the Rumble strip have grown so important. When you can't stand to look at GT3, or think about racing there are other things that go on.
We've covered Kung Fu, Avatar Madness, Soviet space junk, wallpaper, setting records, general conversations, aliens, smoking, and an entire thread about nothing to name a few.
If you think about it, our job is encourage new members to post, even if it is a six time repeat (wheelie trick) Get on, answer the questions, converse, push them to post more than twice before dissapearing, as there is a greater chance that they will enjoy it here, and stay for the long term.
When I go, some other yo yo with a super hero fetish will show up (hopefull the Hulk;) ) and fill my void.
It's the circle of life.
Hakuna matata.... what a wonderful phrase, Hakuna Matata...:embarrassed: (singing smilie)

Maybe it's just your perspective, you've been here so long maybe you're the one loosing your edge. You've experienced all there is to offer from the forums, and you're looking for that new feeling you used to get.

The forums are new to the new people (like me), and I find it VERY informative. I'm sure that in a couple weeks I'll forget about it completely, but for now I'm soaking up as much GT3 culture as I can. The forums are cool man, you've just experienced all there is to experience (:

Wow. That is incredible. Has it occured to you that most if not all special olympic athletes are more skilled and athletic than you'll ever be? Retarded, hardly. Perhaps they lost use of their legs, and they can still "run" faster in a wheelchair than you can run.

No, don't PM me. Tell it to someone who cares.

Wow, I posted this over three months ago ... I guess I was a little off in my estimation of how long I would stick around GTPlanet ...
