Forza Motorsport 5 |OT| Where dreams are Realised

I was absolutely blown away by just how good Forza 5 looks. None of the videos I have seen do it justice, and there is no racing game which can compare with its visuals. When you see it in 1080p at 60 frames per second, it's just breathtaking.

However... I got about 4 minutes of gameplay in the McLaren P1 using the prototype Thrustmaster wheel, and was disappointed. It's hard to say or know if it was this wheel or the game's physics, but the car felt "floaty" and somewhat disconnected from the road. I got a bit of oversteer and understeer, but there was no real sense of what the car's tires or suspension were doing. All aids were off (with the exception of driving line and traction control, which was its lowest setting), but it wasn't a very rewarding driving experience.

Hopefully this is something that will change or improve, because otherwise the game looks stunning.
You think it might just be next gen eyecandy to sell the console? This as the news broke they didnt bother with implementing dynamic weather or night racing either. I know thats only part of the game but the more i hear about it the more it seems to be the case really...:ill:

The menu looks interesting.

An absolutely hilarious quote from Jalopnik

"The other big visual change is that the backgrounds and environments are now much more detailed and dynamic. In previous Forza games the spectators have been like hordes of sex dolls bungie-corded into groups, just standing around looking uncomfortable."

I've always appreciated the strong typographic approach T10's had for the event images, and these ones look a step above the ones in FM4. Noice 👍

I'm hearing Porsche is out again

With like 25 Porsches in Forza 3, I was really upset to see those cars go in Forza 4, I did spend a lot of time with them. They took out tracks even though the disc space was there so I didn't bother. They didn't do much at launch and put cars on day 1 DLC/special editions instead offering a gesture about losing Porsche. Then of course they offer Porsche cars as DLC, very expensive. Really should've been but back in free.

Now they lose it again. What happend to this relationship with EA, I mean EA are messing around but T10/MS are not handling this well. All those brilliantly modelled cars in F3 are a jewel in the crown for me.

Please I beg of you EA Porsche to stop this nonsense. To me EA is dicking around with the brand, sub license no sub license

Do I have to wait for the complete game in two years again only to lose interest by such time.

Yes, the 911's had amazing detail. I would love to see them in Forza Vista. Saddening but I'm trying to get over it.

They are very elegant. Like somebody else said, Shift 2 also had great UI design/typography.

About Porsche license: EA was fine sub-licensing the Porsche name when they didn't have a direct competitor to FM. When Shift was released, they had an incentive to not sub-license the name anymore. No amount of petitioning with EA is going to get them to give up their precious exclusive license. I think we, as a community, need to take our disagreement to Porsche. While they can't do anything about it under their current contract, perhaps we can convince them to not renew their exclusive partnership with EA. EA only portrays Porsche in unrealistic games (Shift included) and I can't understand why Porsche continues to allow it judging how they are so serious about motorsport. Because of EA, everyone loses.

I really loved the Porsche cars too. But I more and more dont care anymore. If Porsche dont care about us sim fans, so be it. I think there are some other really good cars that are equally awesome. The only problem I have with it, is that some racing leagues like ALMS are a bit pointless without them.

I still cant believe how little we got to see about content and features. Turn 10 is driving me nuts. Even Sony showed more tracks and more cars already.

But I am still a day one customer. Xbox One and FM 5 are already preordered.

Wasnt GT6 officially announced something like 1-2 weeks ago? Its only been 3 days for FM5.

"Do you have to be connected to the Internet to play Forza 5? The answer to that question is no -- with a slight catch. The game must log in to Xbox Live at least once, but when it does Forza 5 caches car and race data necessary for offline play. So, after that initial connection, you will be able to play Forza offline."

Maybe this will help quite down some of the people that are absolutely convinced you must be online at all times to play the X1.

Wait what?? :dunce:

How was he trying to derail anything?

he wasnt derailing, he was actually posting something positive.

Yeah no kidding. Geez it is dang near impossible to post anything anywhere right now. It was actually VERY good news for Forza 5 and X1 and 100% on topic. Oh well. I might have to take a break from the forums for a while. Just overwhelming amount of trolls and everything is so negative. :grumpy:

Unless you can connect one time and play offline forever (ie. longer than 24 hours), there's not really anything new about this. :indiff:

You know, for a while, Forza Motorsport was the only console racer that actually managed to grab Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche (as well as RUF) for a long time. I think everyone else either grabbed the 2 Italian marques, & settled for RUF or in EA's case, weren't able to grab Ferrari.

Now, from the looks of it, EA has all 3 back in hand for Rivals. I wonder if that'll play a role in T10/MS trying to convince EA to sub license Porsche back to have the "Big 3" once again as well.

Rio would be awesome! I loved that track & the tunnel would be fantastic to hear the cars in. However, if Rio comes back, Bathu...I mean Blue Moutain needs to return, too.

Good how Dan acknowledges weather etc and is honest to say its a lot of work and wasn't possible for launch.

I still think its good to see Forza 5 day one. Forza fans just want to get their hands on it.

The AI profiles sounds really good. Seems adaptable and different drivers will find AI sets that suit them hopefully.
