What? I am saying that the barriers are higher in game than they are in real life, there's no need to stop cars from flipping over barriers in a video game where they can just place invisible walls.
Then people would complain there's an invisible wall and that's not realistic. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe they raised the barriers so that people using 3rd person view behind the car still get that enclosed feeling even with a much higher eyeliner?
That's not necessary though, the walls already so close to the circuit, it now looks completely out of proportion.

There's invisible walls above every single track barrier in this game, no one complains about that.

The Bathurst model from FM5-7 was fantastic, easily the most accurate of any I had played on console (GT added an extra couple of feet of tarmac beyond the track lines), it just had a really poor lighting system. It's a shame the track has taken a backstep in accuracy this time.

I will say though, great atmosphere, really cool how they've recreated the party houses along Conrod Straight.

i guess people are not knowing that iracing got them first before everyone else, likely is related to it

I lost all the hope I had of seeing the Gen3 V8SCs with this update when I saw that tweet, but honestly, they could've added the Gen2 Mustang / ZB Commodore and most people would've been happy with that - although I can see why they may have decided not to bother, if their "whoopsie" with the menu tile is any indication that they're working on adding Gen3s.

Still, this loops back to the same old issue: Forza Motorsport is a work-in-progress, but T10 is not great at communicating with fans about what work is at what level of progress, and in doing so setting our expectations. I can understand why they would keep hush-hush about licensing deals they may still be working out, but the fact that we found out about the long-awaited implementation of RTGI from an article on NVidia's website a week before the release of the update is not really confidence-inspiring on that front.

Well, at least we got a VN HSV, they've finally reworked the GT categories (and split off Forza TA and V8SC!), and Bathurst's a blast (and I still have to take a lap around it at night, or in the rain... Or at night in the rain!). Plus, they've pushed a technical update on PC that will probably require a lot of post-release follow-up work. All in all, that's not too shabby of an update, and I don't think it warrants the doom-and-gloom it's been met with.

As for next month, I don't think there's that many BMW road cars that would fit in Forza and aren't there already. Plus, at this point they must've had plenty of time to get their hands on an M4 GT3, perhaps even its smaller GT4 sibling... And while I am setting my own expectations low and assuming the M Hybrid LMDh won't be coming next month, hasn't that been around for about as long as the Porsche 963?

I tried the update yesterday, on my Xbox Series X. I raced on Bathurst and NĂĽrburgring full circuit and I made a few observations.

First off, Bathurst looks amazing and feels great to drive with the physics in FM '23!

I noticed significantly less brake checking from the AI. On NĂĽrburgring it was usually complete chaos before in turn 1, with AI almost standing still and bumping into each other. That didn't happen last night.

Is it placebo or have the graphics pixies been at work again? Because it feels like the colours are more saturated and look even better now. Idk 🤔

You're not tripping, the game looks even better now than in update 14 along with the AI finally not being brake checking idiots.

But they are still unreasonably vindictive, they have like road rage or something.
Sounds like a reasonable simulation of Forza drivers, doesn't it?

P.S. Don't mind me, I was punted off impressively just when it hurt the most last time I did an online Trial in FH5 and am apparently a little salty.

If they are using our telemetry to train their AI models, then God help us all. Now I do try to race as clean as possible, but I can't help to bump some of them when they go unreasonably slow over some sections (the bus stops and chicanes are specially confounding to them, but I've seen the fastest cut and ride the curbs).

Can't disagree there. Several times they have plowed right into me especially if I'm directly in front of them, instead of just going around like a normal driver.
Word. I’m under the impression this has been worse since the last couple of updates. I usually have no problems getting podium finishes in the different chapters, but the Drivatars generally ruined my efforts in the American Thunder Tour.

Oftentimes it’s like they are fully blind when you’re entering a turn in front of them. If it doesn’t result in getting punted off the track, it will occasionally cause severe mechanical damage. Especially frustrating after having defended a good position over several laps.

This was the first time I've driven a V8 Supercar in this game. I picked the Falcon. It kind of sounds like a diesel especially at low rpm. To me Bathurst feels too smooth. I would have preferred the full versions of Barcelona and Watkins Glen for a race car with that much power. Kyalami was perfect for V8 Supercars.

The YouTube algorithm threw up this Mid-Ohio reality vs. in-game video. WARNING: One incidence of bad language before the timestamp and another near the end.

I just completed the V8S set of races and I had a lot of fun. After trying the Falcon in Rivals I was disappointed with the engine sound, as in not bad but certainly not matching reality/not right. Then tried the Commodore and realised I already had it. Didn't realise these were already in the game therefore wondered whether it was something I'd souped up with a livery on it, ie not a legit V8S, because, again disappointed with the sounds. Then for the series of races I purchased the Altima, now this sounds much better! As in just right I think ! Finished 1st, 4th, 4th, 1st. All we need now is the Volvo, Mercedes and Gen 3. Then we can have a lot of fun!

PS I hope they work on the engine sounds for these cars, do them justice.

They understeer like crazy but yes fun races! Nascar was also fun to do (apart from ovals for me dont like that) but nice cars to race.

Also the games seems again a bid nicer graphics whise for some reason. I only wish they add a bid more new cars. Race and steet...... if they keep updating this game like they do it will be a awsome game (i like it allready allot more compared to release)

Did a couple comparisons and i have to say the RTGI update is a little disappointed. Its bugged and doesn't work properly in the cockpit, it even disables RTAO and breaks the shaders. The cubemaps reflections and RT reflections don't work properly on some materials in the cockpit. The track and outside of the car do look fantastic and it really makes the lighting look even better. The visual target mod was light years ahead of this version. That version is still the best looking version sadly but we can't acces it anymore :(.

I hadn't actually touched any of the V8 Supercars until this update, and compared to Forza games of old, I love driving them now. With the old physics engine, they'd have this awful mid corner sudden lack of grip, you could lean on the car at all, and while now they're definitely not easy to drive, they are really fun to drive.

I'm definitely thinking there was licensing issues though. There's no mentions at all towards Supercars anymore, its all Forza Aus Series, Forza GT Aus, V8 powered supercars etc, whereas the old game used to have the Supercars logo as the category and what not. That series header that mention 'Gen 3' makes me believe it too. It's such a specific thing to mention, and the current cars in the game aren't Gen 3, so why mention it? I'm thinking maybe initially the featured career events were going to split between Gen 2 and Gen 3, but then licensing got in the way.

iRacing getting proper liveried NASCARs

If you mean the new NASCAR 26 game? If yes, it will happen beacuse they are partnership with all the teams (NASCAR paint schemes licences belong to the teams and not NASCAR itself)

To be fair, I think that the FH4 approach was better than the FM7 one

even with the goofy fake brand signage.

I do prefer fantasy signage than no Signage as FM7 was only with game logo, xbox logo and Microsoft logo, at least gives you a sensation of realism when is impossible/unlikely to get real life brands

I have a grip with most western sport games that tend to use least of real/fantasy sponsors as possible, making the game feel bland and boring in my opinion

There are tons of tunes that are more than good enough available to download. In the lobby you can push Y to go to the player list and it will even show you what tune people are running if it's shared, so you can try out the tunes the top guys are using and put yourself on even ground with them.

I think it depends of experience, I am running NASCAR with default setups and even trying to force my car to max with soft times, the setup drivers manage to go faster 4secs or more in some tracks, in oval racing that is A LOT

I think instead of create more lobbies, rules for each category should mirror real-life, if in the category has fixed setup rules or the racing is more fun in fixed like in NASCAR case, then multi-player races should be fixed

If they are open then let them be open

Modern Sport SUV

Oh boy, this is not going to be popular among open lobby people

Now, it's interesting that T10 seems doing a lot of 180 in what they had planned before, remember that they had no plans to put heavy cars like SUVs or vans on it

I wonder if they will add some trucks or if they will stop at small trucks and UTEs

Wow what the hell. A mobile game with that many great racing cars and dozens of them not in FM is wild. And to think many of them used to be in FM but not currently smh. Yeah im a little more mad now lol.

This game is longer in market than FM also is a EA game do they have lot more of exclusive licences specifically F1

It's more Reminder than news

It looks that Duracell is doing a promo in USA and Puerto Rico giving you some credits and new firesuit, the promo goes until 31/12/2024

Has it always been one lap of practice in the featured tour series? I thought it was always 3 except for LeMans and the Nordschleife.
At launch I'm fairly certain in was three laps of practice for the Open Series but lately it's been two laps. This is the first time it's only been one lap. I thought two laps was about right.

That is a lot on ovals, but there is no reason to run the stock setup. There are plenty of tunes shared and it takes 15 or so seconds to download one. There are also places on the internet where you can find people posting their numbers for good quality tunes, the Forzaverse Discord is a great place for that where well known tuners often share their setups in detail.

The main tuning changes that make a big difference in lap time are aero and gears (but only if the stock gears are really bad) and aero is probably the easiest thing to tune in the entire game. Of course it depends a little on the car and track too. Running stock aero on a GT car at Lime Rock likely won't hurt your lap time too much, but running stock aero at Le Mans can cost you 2 seconds or more.

Lots of real life series have fixed elements (wing angle, gear ratios, ride height, spoiler height, wicker bill, etc) but very few don't allow any changes. Forza has never been good at being accurate with that stuff, so I wouldn't expect that to change any time soon.

The track lighting looks better than in visual target mod but the interior lighting and reflections are so much better in the mod. The lack of rough surface reflection or even on some fully reflective material reflections and the complete absence of RTGI in the cockpit makes it look worse than the mod. The interiors in the mod looked soo good thanks to RTGI and full correct RT reflections that it made the materials and shaders look alot better.

Left is the mod and right is patch 15 maxed out with RTGI
