This "Frag" livery series aims to make some of my favorite cars stand out visually on track, accentuating some of each car's design highlights, while downplaying some of their flaws (IMHO).

None of these are based on real life designs -- I've just gone with what looks good to me, focusing on simple geometric forms and minimalist color schemes.

Enjoy!

Really nice work. 'Simple' doesn't mean 'easy' and you have the right design sense to do it right,

Thanks for the kind words ;)

Here's a challenging one: the Toyota FT-1 VGT Gr. 3. I'm a Toyota fan and wanted to do this car justice (especially since it's a hairy beast to drive, and I mean that as a compliment), but its overall aesthetic is just... awkward? IMHO, of course.

Found a strange bug where the livery flashes once at the beginning of one specific replay, and the sponsors appear blurry (other replays with this livery are fine):

There are also some strange seams in the livery preview images, though these don't appear in replays or photos:

EDIT:
Sadly it's hard to save and share clean shots directly from the livery editor, but I learned how to take screenshots, transfer to PC, and upload:

Another challenge: the Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17 Gr. 3. I absolutely love this car, so I waited a long time to start this one, not knowing how best to work with that curvy, animal form with angular slabs of black & grey. The result is maybe a bit too minimalistic, but one of my favorite liveries so far ;)

Named Frag8, available in Rosso Corsa, Giallo, White Matte, and Black Matte: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/user/profile/2273788/gallery/carLivery

Also, does anyone know what the 3 green lights on the doors are for? My Google-fu is failing me atm. Seems like just the top light is on most of the time, but occasionally I've seen all 3 light up:

Those are position lights, top light only is first, top and middle are second, all three lit up is third. Every endurance car from GT3 all the way up to LMP1 are equipped with them nowadays to make it easier for the audience at the track to tell the leading cars apart instead of counting out the laps by themselves or looking it up. It's also easier to tell position during the night as well.

This Toyota TS040 is currently in 2nd.

Another variation of this system is full-on LED displays with the current position number all the way down to the last car/position on the grid, its superior to the three-position lights because they encompass all the cars on the track, but these cost more and are probably more difficult to maintain.

Pretty easy to tell which position this 458 is in compared to the one above.

Really, I just used that quote above to nerd out, but that should be all you need to know. The main problem with GT Sport is that the lights don't actually work, so it looks off when all three lights are detailed on a livery and you're in first or second. Also the displays are even worse for that because the number never changes no matter where you go.

"The more you know"

If you do choose to use position lights in the future, I'd recommend to make them look like they're all off just for the realism but you do you. Go ahead and use whatever position you want.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the detailed reply -- I'm out of touch with real life racing...

I haven't seen these lights anywhere else in GT Sport (though I have yet to spend much time with many of the faster cars) aside from the 911 RSR Gr. 3, which *does* appear to have functioning lights: in my screenshots above, where all three are lit, I was in fact in 3rd place, and in the other shots where only a single light was lit, I was time trialing (so effectively 1st place?). And in the shots from the livery editor all 3 lights are dark. Note that those light sockets are part of the car geometry and off-limits for applying decals on this model.

Strangely in that very first shot from my garage it appears the top light is lit also...

In any case, I'll look out for these from now on, thanks for the tip ;)

Oh, those are actually part of the Porsche model? I thought it was from your livery it was so good! Yeah, never mind the rant about the dots on liveries. I've seen some on others but since it's part of the car you're fine. I'm just out of touch with my Porsche on GT Sport, that's all.
