TraySaver
TraySaver is a program for people that have a system tray that extends halfway across the taskbar...or anyone that has a quite a few icons in their system tray. TraySaver, once started up, hides selected icons but keeps them running, so you still have all the programs running in the system tray, but with a smaller tray!

WinGO Folder Alias
WinGO Folder Alias is another cool little program that saves you 1000's of mouse clicks. WinGO resides in your system tray. Right-click on the roadside icon, go to properties, add the folders you visit most into the list and click OK. Now all you have to do to access those folders is left click on the icon and select one of the folders. Pretty nifty eh?

Change Folder Icons
Pretty self-explanitory. All you have to do is select a folder, search your computer for some icons, select the icon you want to use, hit Apply. You can change any folder's icon from the Windows file up to the Control Panel. You don't have to select folder icons either. You can have your Windows folder have the IE logo if you want.

Clipomatic
This program is quite a nifty little thing. You know when you copy something to be pasted into a word processor, etc and then you go and copy something else, realizing you just got rid of the info you needed to paste? Well, this cool program, is like 10 clipboards in 1. You can have up to a total of 10 things on your clipboard. By pressing Ctrl + V, it pastes the most recent thing you copied, but if you press Alt + Ctrl + V it brings up a menu (like when you right-click your mouse) with all the things you have copied, allowing you to select what you want.

Startup Control Panel
This program here, once installed, resides in your Control Panel. Open it up and you have complete control over what programs open up on Windows startup. You can always go Start > Run > msconfig and do this but this program is a lot quicker.

Online Eye
Online Eye places a timer in your Internet Explorer Title Bar which, once connected to the internet, will start ticking away; showing you how long you have been on the net for. Its a nifty little prog for people who have an ISP that have an hours per connection limit.

Dr. Hardware 2002
I never used to know what was under my case until I got this program. This prog gives you a rundown of your hardware like your chipset, processor, motherboard, hard drive, etc. It also tells you your exact version of Windows.

IE Title Modifier
Using this small (16kb!) program you can easily edit the part in your IE title bar that says 'Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by...' to whaever you want in seconds. You can change it to GTP Rules! if you like.

NetPumper
NetPumper is a new kind of Download Manager. Its easier, safer and faster. NetPumper is capable of pausing downloads, resuming them, is anti-leech compatible and much more.

Fast Track Accelerator
For anyone that has a P2P client that runs on the Fast Track network (eg. Kazaa, Morpheous, Grokster) you might want to consider getting this program. It skips queued downloads, clears downloads and erroneous and also clears uploads and erroneous.

WAV to MP3
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what this does. Simply converts WAV files to MP3 format.

Trillian
Chat with multiple instant messengers at once! Trillian allows you to chat using AIM, ICQ, IRC, Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger simultaneously at the one time. You can even be chatting with multiple Yahoo! and MSN accounts!

Advertising Killer
Anything that stops those annoying, bandwidth stealing pop-up ads I love. Advertising Killer kills pop-up ads quickly...sometimes before you even see them. Before a pop up can be killed, it has to be added to the Rules list. Once that pop up shows it face again it gest closed automatically.

DirectX
DirectX runtime is necessary for running the majority of game demos and other rich media software. This program, once installed, can not be removed or uninstalled. Get the latest version here.

Winamp
Everyone knows about this but I thought, seeming it is a great program and the best MP3 player, I'd put it up. Winamp 3.0 is out and I must say, it kicks arse! I know I said it sucked before, but that was because I was running the beta version.

OSL2000 Multi Boot Manager
If you want to run multiple OSes on your machine, you can use this multiboot manager to easily install, boot and manage them.

Post-it Software Notes
This prog allows you to leave notes on your desktop as reminders to do things. You can also set alarms as reminders of deadlines, etc.

ePrompter
An email notification program that automatically checks up to 16 password-protected email accounts simultaneously. Running in the background, it can be scheduled to download email from each of the accounts and viewed at a later time. You can read, reply to and delete all your email , without ever having to log onto the sites.

MovieXone
This enables you to edit, animate and add audio and titles to your home movies. The program also supports transitions and features a live preview window. Its also free.

That online eye . . . not so good - I don't want the girlfriend whingeing at me to get off the Net when she sees the time!

Just look at the connection - it should say how long you've been on for.

What's the difference between a crustacean and a suckworth?

But it is quicker just to look at the Online Eye clock it places in the title bar...

TraySaver
XP does this automatically.

WinGO Folder Alias

You can add anything to your Startbar.

Change Folder Icons
You can do this since Windows 95 without any special software.

Startup Control Panel
Skip the program, and do it yourself. It may do it quicker, but it's one more thing slowing your registry down at startup.

Online Eye
Obsolete, get broadband. (Most ISP's give you nearly unlimited time anyway.)

Dr. Hardware 2002
Direct X does this, and so does your system information (startbar/programs/accessories/system tools/system information.)

1. Not everyone has XP.
2. I persume your talking about XP again...
3. How? I'm not talking about My Computer, etc. I'm talking about normal folders.
4. I'm sure it doesn't slow it down that much.
5. Broadband is a couple of hundred dollars in Australia; it's only about $30 in America and some people complain it is too much!
6. It does more than just that. It also has benchmarks.

Nope, definitely windows 98, and probably win95 as well. (It's been too many years since 95 to remember.)

Get 3d Mark @ www.madonion.com it does all that with style.

And that's too bad about the broadband thing :P It costs around 30-50 over here. (50-90 AUD)

3DMarks is a huge download. It is alright for people on broadband. Plus, my crappy case doesn't deserve to be inspected by something like that - piece of **** computer.

The best apart about this sharware proggies is that they can be used in tandem to get other programs. In this instance, use GetRight.

You can change the title bar of IE yourself. You will need to edit a entry in the registry, but it is simple enough. Although, i wouldn't recommend anyone mess with the registry unless they are willing to take a chance at messing up your computer. (if u do it right, everything is fine. delete somthing important, or edit it into garbage, and u will have problems :) )

ahh just incase anyone wants to do that (change IE title) without using the program, here is how.

click start -> run - type "regedit" without the quotes.
Now the registry editor will open, click the folders in this order(double click the folder, or single click the + sign).

My Computer (should already be open, but if not, then click it)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Software

Microsoft

Internet Explorer

Main (only do a single click on the folder)

Ok so now at the bottom of your window, it should say this...

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

If it doesn't say that, then in you're in the wrong spot.

Once you're in the right location, look on the right side of the screen. There you will see many "keys"(they don't look like a key :P ). Now double click the key that says "Window Title". A new window will open, and the data from that key will be highlighted. It will say the default IE title. Now, just edit the highlighted text to whatever you want.

Now your done! The next time you reboot your computer, the new title will become active.

NOTE: This is in Windows 98 SE. I don't know if it will be the same for all versions of windows, but i assume it SHOULD be the same for any of the 98's and probably the 95's as well. 2000 and XP i don't know, as i have never used either of them. enjoy :)

for the internet explorere regedit thingy i cant find it in the regedit on xp so it mustive been taken out...[sarcasim] darn[/sarcasim]
