hahaha oops I got impatient when the first took ages to send so I kept pressing it. My bad! But yes I think that should count as 3 votes for rain...

What else I remember from the race: After 15 minutes in the rain, I was seriously contemplating giving up. I was losing several seconds per lap (on a good lap without a spin), and the concentration it took to even keep the car on the road was such a strain that I couldn't imagine doing that for another 75 minutes. I remember seeing @Andil leading GT-O and wondering how he got there. Before the rain, he was a bit behind me (don't know, if he had passed Lout or not), and O'rama and Lout passed me in the rain, but I never saw him go by. Maybe because of that stealth colour on his car. I think close to when the rain stopped I must have been almost 2 laps down. With the rain gone, I at least didn't lose any more time and lapped consistently in the 13's again. Andil sadly then dc'd and in the last corner I managed to unlap myself, because O'rama apparently spun in his exuberance over his win.

Do you know quickest lap times for people in Dry + Wet? I couldn't save the replay so couldn't watch back, I have no idea what others pace was.

I remember coming past to put a lap on you but I don't remember passing you either, but I must have done because you were ahead of me after stops. Based on when I came past you, I was able to get the power down much better in the 300SL than the GTO, although similarly you had to be on half-throttle most of the time to stop wheelspin + rear sliding.

Was definitely a test of concentration, I quite enjoyed it actually.

Poll: I have no issue with rain. I think it adds another element to racing and it is bizarre how only now people have issues. Do you want Spa to be changeable weather or not?

Maybe I ought to put the comments from my race report a little into perspective. I'm not categorically against rain - I actually like the idea behind the unpredictability of weather influences. After last night's experiences I'm naturally a little biased as to what I prefer though. I think what we all are striving for is close racing, which, to be honest, sometimes is hard to create in races that last 2, 3 or 3.5 hours and you've got only 8 competitors to begin with. Sometimes you end up driving alone for the majority of the race, which can also be fun from a strategy point of view, but close racing would be much appreciated by everyone, I think.

I don't think that it's a new thing that people don't enjoy driving in the rain - we've had that discussion half-way through last season where we had rain pretty much every race up to that point and it started to get ridiculous. I think it's much better this season with only specific events having weather turned on, but nevertheless, psychologically it's not easy to convince people to continue driving when it starts raining at the beginning and they're looking at 2+ hours of not enjoying themselves. I find you do get a sense of achievement once you've been through it all, but I would lie, if I said I was enjoying the process. And the further back you are running, the worse it probably makes you feel.

So, to answer your very short question ... although Spa does have the image of eternally threatening rain, I'd prefer it to be dry. Especially through the night.

Maybe we can limit the number of races with weather turned on in each season to something like ... 2(?) and set the parameters to something that actually leaves a chance of no rain at all? It seems to me that whenever rain is possible, there will be rain. But maybe that's how PD implemented it.

I haven't looked, but I do have the replay and I will check later on. My fastest was a 13.0 like in qualifying, so I'm pretty sure that O'rama or Yera went faster in the first half hour. Pole was a 12.5 by O'rama.

Your description of the GTO's behaviour is pretty accurate. Basically I had to slow down to the right speed before turning in, then roll through the corner, get the car pointed absolutely straight and only then get on the accelerator again, mostly short-shifting to avoid wheelspin (which was happening up to 4th gear sometimes). I don't remember exactly what lap times I did in the wet, but I think something like 35/36's.

I can't remember my laptimes in the wet (probably wouldn't matter anyway, can't remember doing a clean lap), but in the dry my best was a 2:12.6, couple of laps before I passed O'Rama...

EDIT: As for rain in Spa, I'm really undecided at the moment, given I usually enjoy the unpredictability of rain but I have no way of knowing which car I'll have at Spa, if Nurb's GTO (which actually held it pretty well with 100% water) or the crappy Silverstone one, which meant going sideways everywhere whenever throttle input went above ~60%...

Ah ok, I know I was doing 12s when tyres were fresh, think I got to a 12.6 - otherwise high 12s/low 13s were pretty standard in the dry. In the wet I was doing (I think) 27-29s so clearly a massive difference there.

I've suggested it before:

Have a number assigned to the various values for each parameter and use a random number generator to pick the values for the race.

For example:

Weather:
0% = 0
25% = 1
50% = 2
75% = 3
100% = 4

Using 5Ran# on a calculator I get a value of 0.59. So the weather would be set at 0% (use the first digit, don't round since then it gets messy).

Do the same for changeability. Surface water would be better set by relating it to the current rain %.

That way there's always a chance of having a guaranteed completely dry race and always a chance of a guaranteed completely wet race.

It would be a relatively quick way of setting the weather rather than relying on PD's rain heavy changeability.

Had a promising first test in the Cobra. Feels a lot more competitive than the Mustang.

I'm not against driving in the wet but when you have a car that is impossible to control in traction zones it gets frustrating, especially if cars around you can literally put the pedal down with ease. I was pushing hard just to keep up and even when doing my best laps the others pull 2 seconds on me.

I was on the limit trying to keep up with Furi and I was faster through the corners but any advantage gained is wiped out on the exits. Next season I need to grind for a car (probably Jag) because this car doesn't seem to quite be fast enough to challenge on pace (all my wins were through luck this season).

 nope all to spec! (I think) Feels a lot nicer to drive though.

I can't confirm anything, because Furi made me sign an NDA. :sly:

But the rear end feels much more planted than the Cobra of previous WSC seasons, doesn't it? Makes its time rather in corners and acceleration than with top speed, but it's surprisingly controllable with all that torque.

Haha well Furi sent me over specs via DM so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say anything @FlyingFox and yeah it really does, although most things feel more planted than the Mustang

I'll thank you now lol

I'll be there.

By the way, depending on who actually got fastest lap (I will just assume it was @raceorama123432 ), the difference between me and O'rama in the GT-O standings is...

22pts (total pts)
18pts (1 dropped round)
16pts (2 dropped rounds)

And the last one of 16pts is the one that counts. Presuming that the Le Mans score will come into play for just about everyone, only a 2nd place or better at Spa will improve my points count. (or a 3rd with pole or fastest lap) O'rama needs 4th or better to improve his points count.

If he's continuing to perform like in the last two races, the championship's going down to the wire.
