So yesterday I was scrolling through ebay looking for 1:18 model cars. I came across a $10 Buy it Now Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta, NIB. The brand was CMC, something I had never heard of before, so I loked it up, and CMC sells 1:18's on their website for over £300 a car. I looked at the ebay seller and found that they sold a variety of CMC cars, all new for $10, from China. Their feedback was 98% positive, and the only negative reviews were because of shipping delays.

I thought, "What the heck, it's $10", and bought the Ferrari. It should be delivered in two to three weeks, and then I'll find out if it was legitimate.

$10 won't even cover the cost of shipping. Original knock-off Chinese 1:18s go for more than that. This is probably lower because they cut out the middleman.

Either these are B-Class pulled off the line, or it's an ugly knock-off. Hope for the former. If it's the latter, it was only $10. :D

Well, two positive reviews have appeared for two of the cars, and it says mine has been shipped. Now my dad has bought two of the cars and plans to resell them for huge profit.

Apparantly you can only buy two items from that seller within 10 days.

Knowing how ebay works, it's probably just the box sans car.

Usually that's no longer the case so long as you have thoroughly read the listing description for BS like that above. Sellers know what they are in for if they don't cover their butts.

Even if you got yourself a counterfeit, you can report that to eBay. The buyer protection program heavily sides with buyers from what I've been told.

Once I bought an NIB 1:18 Bugatti EB110 for $20, and when the car came it was in peices; the mirrors were broken off but still in the box, the windshield cracked, a wheel broken off, and the antenne missing. I complained and got my money back, and later fixed what I could on the car. Since I got the money back, I used it to buy a slightly-used McLaren F1 for $20, an amazing deal.

Even if this is a scam, good may come out of it. I'll just have to wait and see.
