Frustration!!!

I nearly killed my Driving force wheel today!:guilty: I had been on the Mclaren Mini endurance race for a good few hours just tyring to pass it, at any level, but i kept coming of the track usually on lap 8 or 9, didnt give up though. Just when it looked like i was goin to pass and get a gold I tapped the Gt-one that was in the lead trying to overtake it on the B corner on lap 10. Not happy :irked:  :banghead: wheel was then thrown to the floor. After a short break i returned to the test and recieved a silver trophy :indiff:

Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else out there?

What are peoples opinion on the penalty system (ok so it will stop online cheaters, but i think it is way too harsh in prologues tests)

Which cars are really worth tryin to get all golds for?

I loved that McLaren race. I got the TS020 at the end of lap 9 and just coasted to the finish.

It was nice and tense throughout though. Try it with a DS2... Brrrrrrrr!

I feel your pain bro.
My DS2 controller was thrown around my room quite a bit on that test. 3 times i had to restart because of a mistake on lap 9 or 10, and countless times i restarted on 4th and 5th lap due to loss of concentration and flying off the road.
In the end i settled for a silver and kept well away from gold on purpose just to pass the damn thing.

I felt doing the test and not getting gold would be pointless, a waste of time. So I just worked my way up much the same as Famine with the DS2 and passed the GT-One out of the last corner on lap 9 heading to the front straight with another lap to go.

I remember the first time I got to the GT-One after the first hairpin into the first corner I wasn't concentrating, applied the brakes late and tapped the backend and failed :boggled:

hahaha I havnt had the opurtunitie of that frustration.
I am on the BMW 10 lapper about 4 more test to go... I can get into 3 by the end of the second lap... ussually by lap 5 i have gone off the track or bumped the next car..
I am finding this very dificult! although i am sure with a few more hours i will pass it.. I just spend most of the time after going off the track laughing .. its so good theyve made it so realistic.. i love it .

Uhm,am i the only one that got gold on the first try(10 laps on Fuji)?I knew the track very well though from other games and from a few arcade races. After lap 9 i was 5 sec. ahead of the GT-One.Only 1 more gold to get, that Fuel Consumption Run.

If you want gold, it helps just to read up on how the Prius dual engine work together on the Toyota site ... then it's pretty easy. ;) Three things to keep in mind - on the straight you'll want the highest speed, the car runs on battery only if you accellerate less than a certain threshold (a little over halfway, if I remember correctly - you'll hear a change in the engine noise), and the car loses very little speed once it's going (and requires little accelleration to maintain or even slowly decrease - hence just battery power - to keep it at that speed)

That test was probably quite intense and the most realistic in terms of racing in GT4: Prologue, as you had pass these heavyweight contenders in your mighty Mclaren F1 GTR.

Fuji was quite tough for me, as I didnt know much abotut he course, I did the test twice and failed and got GOLD on my third attempt, it so cool to just edge past the Toyota TS020 at the last straight thanks to the BMW's Engine and speed.

Oh and Slipstreaming....

;)

GREAT CAR AND A GREAT LICENCE TEST.

In one attempt of this test, i came off the track on lap 10, on the final corner, just as I was about to finish. (I was 3rd by the way).

Although this test is one of the most frustrating, the essence of contact being a problem is quite new. These machines are wind tunnel tested and very lightweight and delicate, and in real life some of the contacts made would break bits off. It teaches you to be fast, accurate and careful, which is what the worlds best must do.

Incidentally, I tried loads, kept hitting the earlier cars, getting nervous and leaving the track etc. I only ever finished the test once, but I had passed the TS020 on lap 8 and by far the most woorying thing, by lap 10 was coming up to lap the earlier cars, imagine if I had hit one of them, the whole PS2 never mind the controller would have flown!!!

Its good to hear im not the only one. Speaking of being fast, Anyone who has a wheel will know that it is bloody scary when you hit 300km/h in the McLaren, it just doesn't want to go striaght and you have to fight with the wheel. Amazing!
I have to say some good came out doing the test Fuji is now my favourite track since i know it perfectly now.
Finished the game this morning with 16 gold 9 silver and 21 bronze. So thats 30 tests to go back to. Should keep me for a while.

I havent yet completed this as im going for gold...could have done it on my last attempt but the bloody R390 rammed me off at turn 1.

Any way i was wondering if someone could post examples of how far from the lead i should be at a certain lap...eg. +30secs by lap 3 or whatever.

This would at least tell me if I have the potential to do this test...

:)

The TS020 starts off with a lead of 40 seconds. So you need to be at least 4s closer at the end of each lap - that is 36s down at the end of lap 1, 32s down at the end of lap 2, and so on.

Since your stress keeps on increasing lap after lap, I think you should actually try and be 5 s. faster than the TS020 on each lap to keep a little margin in the end. Since this is the longest race in the game and I had bronzed it on my first attempt, I'll wait until I have all 45 other golds before starting this one.

I only got edgy on lap 10, once the TS020 was out of the way. It's really not that bad. Really.

As is often the case when people ask for help on these boards I went away and managed it after a couple more tries.

I had caught up with the GT-One about halfway through lap 9 and then i just sat behind it until the last corner on lap 10 so that i was in no danger of losing.

Looking back on it this test was probably the most fun I've had on any GT game for a long time thanks to the amaing new handling (it takes a couple of days to really appreciate it!). They can certifiably put 'adrenaline-fuelled' on the back of the box as this is genuinely panicky stuff when you're driving at 200km/h and trying to keep it on the track!

Hats off to PD and I can't wait for the full game.

TBH I found alot of the lessons frustrating, so I know what it's like. I've worked my way through the game and completed each lesson, and now i'm starting again, trying to get gold on each one to unlock all the other cars......but my DS2 is making it harding, as is my totally inability to see the blue lines on the track. Who ever choose blue wants bloody shooting :banghead:.

That 10 lap race was a nightmare, I kept going wide on the 1st alp at the 2nd or 3rd corner time after time. And then suddenly I snapped and managed to finish all ten laps in 3rd place. I never found that I was ever able to catch the leader up, he was always 35 odd seconds ahead, even at the finish of the race.

It will be intreseting to see how hard the endurance races in GT4, as this example shows just how much harder the game is compared to GT3.

Cheers

Jamie

I caught the GT-One at the end of lap eight just before the start/finish line. And overlapped the NSX-R LM and RX8 LM too.

13:xx.xxx (will get time later).

I went off a few times cause the course was really new to me, and I constantly drove on the edge for getting gold, then I also overtook the gt-one in lap 8. really loved this test, constant focus...

Ahhh....The Mclaren test, which will forever hold a place in my memory!

There I was frustrated at trying to hold onto the Mclaren whilst driving at speed up to 300Kph when all of a sudden I found myself on the last lap in the lead staring at the finish line. Yes, yes, yes......finally cracked this bloody test and the Mclaren is mine I thought. Over the line and press exit to be awarded the car when I heard a noise from upstairs in the house......
Off I run to sort out one of the kids who has fallen out of bed! , came back down to discover that my chipped PS2 has locked....froze....shagged itself......

Aargh!! B*'**'#ks. No car, oh my god what now? Nothing else for it but to retake the test and win back my hard earned racer. Got it again at the 1st attempt though!

Moral of the story.....Never ever leave the PS2 alone...LOL

:D

I certainly wouldn't trust a chipped PS2,im on my 5th console just cos Sony cant build things properly, most have been covered by warranty but i hada to spend an extra £180 squids on my current one.

i love my PS2!

got it about a month after they came out, never locked up on me or anything!

no, normally i catch the GT-One at the end of lap 7.

for the penalty system:
as long as i´m in the process of overlapping AI i´d like to see a real flag system so the car to be overlapped has to release the racing -line.
it´s simply dumb that i can get a DQ for touching an AI car when i´m barely one lap in front.

aside from that: yes, keep it and make it even harder.
i do not need a speed penalty after hitting the wall so hard that i nearly came to stillstand.
i want the game to hand out penalties for people shortcutting and tapping walls slightly.

My ps2 chipped and it has never frozen or died, it just plays everthing happily :D :D As for the test with the Mclaren.....I just let it get bronze......after the trouble I had with the Spoon S2000 I just wanted to get the tests finished!!! Ive got the evo one nxt.....apparently thats a hard one

all you people throwing controllers, stearing wheels ,dummies etc need to chill out i was able to complete this test with gold on the third time of asking what you need to do is get into a rythm just inside the cars limit and just keep pluging away before you know it you will be just starting lap 9 with first place just in front of you take it easy get past him collect the gold medal and give yourself a pat on the back
