FTO understeering..

Hello all. I have an probem with my FTO GP Version R. (i know iknow its FF :indiff: ) I have searched the forums but i havent find anythng what would help.. well i have looked the setting guides but they didnt really help.. :guilty: Well except with my Type-R :dopey:

So in to the problem itself. Im noticing heavy understeer with my FTO. Before i used to make it slide to get it trough the corners fast but now that i had a little accident with my left arm i havent been able to get it slide again.. with E-brake but it slows down too much.. but that has othing to do with the problem itself. So, i was wondering if anyone could help me with the settings.. ill put them next but i have to say they arent best couse i have tryed to make it competitive with civic Type-R.

FTO GP Version R settings:

5.6/3.7
111/111
8/8
10/10
2/1
0/0
3/3

LSD (i ahve t configure it still, havent done nothing to it really..)
10/0
60/0
30/0

Thanks to all who will help me with this.. :)

Hi Speedzoner

It's been a good while since I've looked at this car (used to be my FF of choice in GT2) but a quick perusal of your current set-up prompts the following:

The Spring Rates are too low for the weight of the car. She's a thousand odd kg's as far as I remember, so try about 10.2 kg/mm on the Front and Rear.

If the Ride Height is too ... er ... high, you'll be getting a lot of weight transfer which will overload the front end during braking so drop her down to about 5 clicks from minimum.

Try tweaking the Brake Balance a little to feed more braking power to the back wheels - say 13/15.

The Bound Rates as currently set are too hard. Soften her to about 4 or 5.

Try softening the Front Stabaliser and stiffening the Rear.

Either remove the LSD or drop LSD Initial to 5, reduce LSD Accel to say 25 and LSD Decel to 15 (these are only broad suggestions - LSD tweaking is very much determined by driving style).

Make sure that ASM is zero and TCS not higher than 2.

I don't know how experienced you are as a GT3 driver but FF's have a terrrible understeer aspect in the game and need a different approach than normal. The sequence I use is:

1) Brake down to close to the cornering speed I need
2) Let off the brakes and perform initial steering input
3) Straighten the wheels briefly if more braking is needed
4) Complete line set-up for the apex
5) As the apex passes, begin to feed in the power (even more gently than you normally would in a powerful FR).

I.E. Try to avoiding doing braking and acceleration whilst also turning. The front wheels have to do it all in an FF and they just can't cope :all say "Ahh"!:.

I hope that's a little help at least - let us know if you need more detail.
