fuel consumption

Maybe in GT5 you could have different fuel consumption depend on the way you drive and the car you drive. For example, if I drive a car with a big engine and drive hard and rough, the fuel consumption will shoot down hard. But if you drive in a car with a small engine and drive smoothly, the fuel consumption will very steadily go down.

Also, when going to the pits, different engines fill up their petrol to the brim at different times. So a car with a big engine takes longer to fill up than a car with a small engine.

What do you think?

The time taken to fill up depends on the size of the tank, not the engine. But the principal is the same, a smaller tank will fill up faster ect. It's an extra but it won't add hugely to the game, wouldn't complain if it was in though. I'd like to set the ammount of fuel in the tank before a race, I'd also like the fuel level to actively alter your cars weight and balance, the more fuel is in the car, the heavier the car is, and depending on where the tank is (usually at the back) the heavier that end of the car is, so the weight distribution is different to when the tank is empty or low ect.

Funny thing is, PD has already experimented with fuel consumption.

In GT: Prologue there was this little test in which you had to do a lap around a track with a set amount of fuel, and you had to make it to the finish without running out. You actually had the ability to consume less fuel by staying in higher gears through corners and things like that.

Since then they left it out completely it seems. Wonder why.

I would also like to see that, but things like fuel consumption and "realistic" damage could be a huge problem for longer racer, like 300 km Grand Valley or 24 hours of Nürburgring if you know what I mean ;)

It also depends on the type of car. Race cars have custom fueling rigs which can fill the tank at 1-3 gallons per second. Road cars fill much much slower than that. If PD wants to fiddle with this much detail, more power to them, but I'll be buying GT5 either way, so why waste time on it? :)

Well it wouldn't be hard to set a figure for the size of each tank, and the speed the fuel can go in for each car, but yeah, if it was there or not it wouldn't affect the game play. Setting how much fuel you start with and having the fuel affect the weight of you car would be a much better inclusion imo.
