An ad for a red 1994 Supra TT...

This Toyota supra twin turbo sustained collision damage to the right side door and ¼ panel. There is some additional repairable damage to the left front corner. All the parts on the left front corner appear to be repairable with the exception of the left headlight. The air bags are intact and the vehicle runs perfect.

Please understand that this is a rebuildable salvage vehicle and needs repair before it can be operated on public highways and roads.

Oh, sure, it's rebuildable! Looks like some minor front end damage, nothing too serious there...

Hmmm, there's decklid damage, and the roof is all buckled up. Odd.

Sure, that'll buff right out... Right.

How can a car run "perfect" when the rear right wheel is all torn up like that? You'd need so much money to get this thing straightened out, why even bother to say it's rebuildable...

Ask the owner to test drive it and see what happends

I saw a similar advert for a Diablo once. Really nice looking 3/4 of the way around. Then you get to the back side and it was smashed beyond recognition.

I'll take this opporitunity to tell you guys I've got a Civic for sale, near perfect condition except for a small scratch on the drivers side.

People drift anything from the looks of it. Hell I've seen people drift Silverados.

Yeah, assuming. That poor Supra's frame is done.

I'd still steal the motor for a swap into a Mk. III. :mischievous:

They're probably just referring to the engine when they say "runs perfect" - although I do have to wonder how it does, when the exhaust system is on the floor...

To be totally fair, they don't say what it's rebuildable AS. You could rebuild it as a dog kennel maybe...?

You might think so, but Mk. IVs still command big bucks. Well maintained Supra TTs still sell for near-new prices.

Book price for a last year Supra in the UK (1998) on low-average mileage (60,000mi) is £12,500 - compared to £46,000 new. Highest I've ever seen is £17,500, for a 700hp 1995 model with 33,000mi - but modified Supras aren't my taste (especially with the non-standard rear wing - it's like going to the Louvre and replacing La Gioconda with the poster of the chimp on the bog).

This is in the US, where a nice Supra TT will usually get a better-than-book price. The demand is great, but there are precious few Supra TTs available.

Especially when they get crashed. :(

We officially got 100 each year of production - that's 500 UK cars at an absolute maximum, but I doubt all the quota was taken up. Most are grey imports from Japan - but are of poorer spec. Even the Twin Turbos have less power and smaller front brakes compared to the UK cars (all Twin Turbo models - none with the sports roof). I'd estimate that there are no more than 800 Mk IV Supras still alive today on UK roads.

Brilliant analogy - I couldn't agree more. A lot of people (even devout Supra fans) said the wing was stupid and unwieldy, but in truth, it was not only a Supra trademark, but it made the exterior styling of the car. It's very near perfect.

lolz!@

cant believe how much it's going for!!
thats like $20k AU!!! you can almost get one that works for that!
