Furious with PC World

So 2 weeks ago I went into PC World to get my PS3 fixed, they said they'll send it off, have it cleaned and checked for faults for £50 and I would get a call if any new parts where needed. Anyway I already knew what's wrong with it so I told them and they noted it down.

So yesterday morning I got a call from them saying its been checked and it needs a new laser but they don't replace them. But I told them that it needed a new laser, so I've just wasted £50 and 2 weeks to get told what I already knew and that they don't replace them.

I know this sounds crazy but if I can't get a refund is there anyway of suing them?

The trick in these situations is to cause a fuss and ask to speak to the manager and if that fails ring customer services. BUT from what you have explained they havent done anything wrong really.. You paid them to carry out a service to clean and check the ps3 which they did. Unfortunately in your case they wernt able to replace the laser. If the salesperson dealing with you was more clued up they should have advised you that if its the laser couldnt be replaced but I doubt most of them have adequate knowledge of the repair service.

Just explain to the manager that you were under the impression that the £50 was a fixed basic cost to repair your PS3 with parts and other stuff extra... Act dumb and make it out that it wasnt made clear to you by the salesperson what they were really charging you for and that it was misleading as you already knew the problem and wanted it fixed and they didnt acknowledge that so its unfair that you should pay as the salesperson mis sold you something you didnt need....

Truthfully, as much as we hate to do it... give it up. It's not like they sat on it. We all hate to be screwed and spending a fifty to tell you what you already know feels like it... but it would have been worth it if they came up with something that you didn't know. It's a gamble. You hate to walk away with a casino losing money. Similar with cars, your engine sounds bad, you think it's "whatever" and you pay someone to check it out, sure enough it is.

Bottom line; If you want something diagnosed-even if you know what's wrong- expect to lose money.

Sorry for your luck on this one.
