Hi guys! I have been trying to assemble a PC build for myself for my media production needs.

I have the entire build laid out for the most part, except for the CPU.

I want to know what would work best for my needs. I want to stream console and PC games at 720p 60FPS on Hitbox using OBS.

I have been narrowing down two CPU's, the AMD FX 6300 and the Intel Core i3 4330. In benchmarks, these two CPU's perform about the same.

Would more cores be a better option? Or will the hyperthreaded dual core be best?

All help is appreciated.

As far as I know you don't really need much CPU power to stream, hence why I can run ETS2 and stream simultaneously with my i3-3120M (I have 8 GB RAM though). I don't know anything about how AMD works with OBS.

Personally I wouldn't go with anything less than an i5, or its equivalent, for tasks involving more than web browsing and Word documenting. You'll hardly ever regret buying a bit more than you need (a bit, not complete overkill) but you will feel it if you end up needing more horsepower and don't have it. Now, instead of the upgrade setting you back the difference between the i3 and the i5, it's the full cost of the i5. Assuming a new motherboard isn't necessary, too (which would, admittedly, be unlikely).

What's your budget?

Don't go for an FX-6300 or an i3. Those are getting rather outdated. If you'd like to stay on a budget, then go with AMD's FX-8320 or FX-8350. The Intel equivalent being an i5 4670 or 4670k. The FX-8320 and 8350 are ever so slightly inferior to a 4670k, but only just barely. Yet they are a good chunk cheaper, because that is what AMD's good at.

If you don't have a budget and can spend $50 more than a 4670k, go with the i7 4770k and you've pretty much got the best processor you could ever want in a pc build.
