I was showing off the G27 to my friend as its more then likely the wheel I purchase. He got a kick out of the H-Gated 6-Speed shifter and clutch. Then he asks the the one question I never thought of.

What happens with some cars that have a 7th Gear? Cant you not use the shifter for these? Or do you just have to resort to the paddles for these cars.

Sorry for asking such a trivial thing, but can anyone tell me what happens to cars that have 7 gears?

Thanks

The cars that have 7 gears (ie. Lexus ISF) in real life have paddles, not a H-Gate.

So the realistic thing to do would be to use sequential/paddle gears.

Thanks for the response. I knew thats what had to be done. I was just curious has how you guys went about this as its one of those things you dont think of until you try shifting into that 7th gears.

Thanks again

i believe IS-F tranny got 8 gears

it's pretty hard(impossible?) to find a 7 or 8 gear H-gate in real life anyway

S2000,7gears.Make it 6 speed and its just fine.Maybe? you loose same, but it doesnt bother me.After used to clutch,I dont want to drive without.

The Amuse S2000's a real bugger with the H-pattern. Although I think the car uses a sequential shifter. The G27 has removed the sequential mode, due the the new helical gear design in the G27, which is kinda dissapointing, but the shifting should feel more smooth.

To be exact there is still sequential shifting but only for paddles behind the wheel.

And thats why I'm going with the G27. I'd rather have and updated version with a better shifter and gears, then a sequential shifter. f I need it I got the paddles.

erm...I don't want to be "THAT guy" but isn't the helical gears the new system to replace the straight cut gears in the steering mechanism, not actually the shifter unit? I think the G27 removed the sequential mode in the shifter to increase the feel and durability of the regular H-gate shifter if I am not mistaken.....👍
