Well I just upgraded to a G25 from the DFP and decided to post up a few pics of the rig. I've had it for a bit now and thinking about going in a different direction with a new setup.

I'm definitely gonna build it, because of the price of the better quality ones. I'm thinking about going with MDF shell and fiberglass it for painting.

I have some ideas but haven't put any serious energy into getting started

pretty cool, get some spray cans and spray it black :) or blue and red just like the GT colors :)

Wow good use of PVC's.. :) how big's that TV? 60"?

If you can invest more on a Bigger Sound system, have like 2 subwoofers!

I initially had planned to do that but never got around to it, I still may considering 1 can of spray paint is only $2 :)

The tv is actually 70", the sound system is ok for now but you can't see the subwoofer which is in the corner of my room, and I do also have a buttkicker attached to the seat which you can see the thick black cable going to the back of the cockpit which vibrates the whole setup

I just paid $245 for mine, shipped. :sly: All steel, fully adjustable, mount for the G25 shifter... There's deals out there, you just gotta know where to look. ;)

I know about those but I'm referring to actual cockpits not the VRC's, Sparco GT cockpit and others like it. That's why I said I'm gonna build a shell out of MDF and fiberglass it.

Drop a link and show me where to look bro

There is the VRC and is a really good price $299 and guessing this may be the one Teh_Loserer has http://www.bobearlracing.com/

and the Sparco GT cockpit which is about $330 http://www.gtcockpit.com/

This one is in the UK and kinda pricey, but a well made setup and different choices http://playseats.com/

And this one is the Virtual Roadster made of Stainless and tubular steel. This one is a little pricey as well, but I'm just showing you some examples of what's out there if you haven't seen it. http://www.virtualroadster.com/

And if you're looking to spend your lunch money, this is the one for you :nervous:

Good looks on the examples. I love the bob earl seat but they wont have it until feb. The Sparco isnt compatiable with the g25. I just dont like the play seat. But the virtualgt now we are talking.

I was gonna get the VRC, but I'm not waiting till FEB.

A friend of mine just received his yesterday, here's his post on another forum:

anyone questioning the $185 price tag, dont even bother just go BUY THIS THING!!!
All set up and it's just a blast! I had a few guys over tonight to give it a test run and I couldnt get anyone to give up the seat The setup took about an hour, it's very comfortable and gives you perfect driving position. The shifter arm and steering wheel plate are very sturdy and allow for no flexing whatsoever. The seat can be slid back and forth like a regular car seat(as well as lumbar/seat back adjustments. Overall, there is nothing quite like this and has turned a racing game into a ridiculously real simulator. The best and ONLY way to go is the Logitech G25/cockpit combo!!! So far I have been using the 17" LCD but saturday I will be finally complete with a 32" LCD as the main monitor. Any car geeks would never even leave this setup!

Pros:
Comfortable
Everythings adjustable
Lifelike racing
no sliding or flexing
Best value out there(you cant even buy just a seat for $185!)

Cons:
Keyboard pad smells funny
Friends won't leave

Have you had a chance to try out your buddies obutto yet.... if so how do you like it?

I really hope this setup makes it to production as this will be the first console compatible motion sim and can also be used on pc sims.

Hmm now that he puts it like that. I might spring for it. What forum is that?

It's a completely unrelated forum. Theplaceholder.com It's pretty much a community of people who have been boarding together for the past 7 years or so.

And no, Racer XO, I haven't tried his out. But I have ordered mine, should be here on the 26th or so.

I have a Racecraft GT from www.nixim.com , not cheap but it is fully cutomisable and has every imaginable option.

I got mine done in 06 Renault F1 colours then they changed for 07 lol

Also Nixim do a brake mod for the G25, it gives the brake pedal a lot more feel for the threshold - maximum braking without lock ups

If you built another cockpit, what would you change about your design? I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, but quite honestly, I want to learn from any of your mistakes. :)

polyracer as for your race craft how do that work for keyboard/mouse gaming :). Also I don´t see any way to mount a shifter. Don´t want it beside the wheel...

Hi Pako....Changes would be small as I do like the way it came out, but one thing I would do is add supports to the back of the sled where the makeshift wing is and add a holder for my mouse and keyboard since I do race on pc also.

But I plan to add those when I go with mdf. If you need anything just let me know I'd be happy to help
:)

IMHO, the seating position looks quite high. Almost like a minivan.

I know we spoken by PM - but just to inform here there are mounts for everything including keyboard flatscreen and shifter etc.

I originally did mount my shifter next to the wheel as you said, but now I have the dedicated mount for it.
