Sorry for another G25 thread, but it's something that has been bugging me for quite some time.

Does anyone else get this unstoppable wiggle with some cars in a straight line?
It's the most noticable in the Ferrari F1 and Ford GT.

For example: When I exit the last chicane at suzuka and make my way on to the main straight in the Ford GT, the steering wheel starts making these little movements to the left and to the right, increasing in speed and strength. You can't stop the wiggling with one or two hands, it's too intense. I have to lift up my knee and place it against the bottom of the wheel to stop it from shaking!
I had this problem with the DFP in GT4, but only in the Pescarolo @ La Sarthe. But this is just rediculous. Anyone else experienced this?
Ps: This problem only occurs in a straight line! I thought this only was a problem of the DFP, because of it's 'dead zone'. When rapidly moving the wheel sideways, just a few inches, you could hear that the wheel had a bit of free play in the center.

Second problem: the steering angle on the Ford GT is way too small! I can't keep the car on the road with one hand. On other words, I can't use the shifter... Just a twitch of the wheel is equal to half a turn in a road car.

I'll make of movie of these situations and post them here later on.

EDIT:
Options are simulation, FF set to 8.

EDIT 2:
Well, it seems I jumped to conclusions. In some weird way the steering angle was all wrong on the Ford GT the last time I tried the GT, but when I took it out for a spin a few minutes ago the steering problem was a lot better! The steering angle is still quite small, the car oversteers very easily when lifting off in mid corner or when diving into a corner (using R1's). But hey, the steering angle is fixed and the car is drivable.
Guess something weird happened last time...
Ofcourse I can still provoke a bit of wiggling, but it's not that bad anymore and I can stop the steer when wiggling when I want it to.

So... On the the Suzuka 750PP race I'd say! See you there! ;)

The following worked to solve the issue with a Driving Force; it might also work with the G25:

Put steering type to simulation under options.

No it will still do it, and yes it is annoying.

Using both hands and knees sounds a bit extreme, what feedback strength are you using?

second problem:- turn the steering angle down, this may also help reduce the wiggle

do you have the same problem with the steering angle of the Ford GT too?

You just need to turn the angle down, the Elise has the same characteristics, at 50 it's a nightmare, but turn it down and it becomes alot easier to drive.

That doesn't help either. The angle is just ridiculously small, you don't even notice the difference. I hope I can film this later today so I can show you.

I have commented on the G25 shaking violently with the F2007 a couple times, everyone says to grab the wheel harder and that the violent, tooth rattling shaking isnt that bad. Whenever I use the F2007 I turn the FFB down to 3, or 2, or sometimes 1. I notice in REAL F1 cars there is NO shaking in straight lines, but whatever. Also I've noticed, even with FFB on 8, if you put some steering input into the wheel it wont shake at all, but then you do a slight swerve pattern down the straights.

Its called dynamic instability :P Can't help you how to fix it in GT5P, because I dont have it :P But it happens in other games too. Its because if the wheel is disturbed, the game responds by giving feedback to push it back towards centre, but the force it feeds back is too much, so it goes beyond centre, then gives feedback to go back the other way, and so on and so on getting worse and worse.

Its kinda like a spring, you stretch it and it wobbles back and forth, except most springs are damped, so the oscillations die out over time (like car suspension, or even a regular spring has friction which acts as a damper).

Some cars by nature are dynamically unstable (you push the wheel slightly one way and unless you grab the wheel yourself, the car will swing back and forth in increasingly larger arcs until the car slides). But in this case its most likely the wheel not set up properly. On PC you have options via logitech profiler to adjust "damping" and "spring" forces in addition to the pure FFB the game is giving you.

I remember in GTR evo with my G25 wheel set up I had, the formula 3000 had massive instability much above 200kmh. I'd only notice it on long straights, but the wheel would kick back and forth so hard down the straights I'd go off on the straights more than on the corners :P

I only have this problem on a bumpy surface, smooth road surfaces and even the F2007 stays straight and true just holding the wheel normally however, exiting onto the bumper straights of Daytona requires a bit more muscle, but nothing so bad that it goes beyond my own strength and I've never dreamed of joining a gym
