Hello all!

I did a search on this and I didn't come across anything related to my question, but if there is, close when necessary! :)

I have three questions:

1. What is the proper way to hold the steering wheel? I put my hands in the 3 o'clock position, with my thumbs hooked to the horizontal spokes. I can only assume that this is incorrect.

2. Whenever I try to do heel and toe, my foot always lets go of the brakes slightly. How do I solve this?

3. Should the wheel be fighting back when a car understeers?

1. most people teach me hold on 9 & 3 o'clock position, thumbs don't hook on the wheel,
just attach on the rim at ease .

2. this is so difficult (not impossible)to do heel & toe on the G27 original brake pedal.
but the better way to doing better ,is do a brake mod on it.For example, increase the spring resistance .NIXIM mod, apelectrix load cell brake mod, arc brake mod, perfect pedal mod , all of these are much helpful with heel & toe action and brake control.

3. In my experience , the wheel only fighting back when oversteering cause by tail slide outward the conner ,when understeer, the wheel resistance force will became weak.

I will look into modifying the brakes a bit. Thank you for your help!

This video is good about telling you the position you should sit in as well as simple racing techniques.

1. 9 and 3 for racing is a must. You will have better control of the wheel if you stick to that. For casual driving, 9 and 3 is also applied, but you can pretty much just drive with left hand on the 12 or 9 or whatever you prefer. I don't know what you are talking about putting your hand on 3'o clock position... left hand on the 12 and right on the 3? If it is, that's just plain wrong.

2. Ever drove before in real life and applying the heel and toe technique? If not, then just keep on practicing. I pretty much did heel and toe all day everyday back then when I used to drive stick, but yes on G27 it do sometimes slides off, so you'll get better as you progress. I've been thinking about putting rubbers on the pedals just like in real cars.

3. Do you mean that the wheel snapback or it feels that the wheel is tighter when turning? If the latter, then that's just normal, hence the term 'understeer.'

Sorry, I meant 3 AND 9 o'clock position.

Nope, never driven in real life before.

So the more you turn, the tighter the wheel should be? My G27 stays the same even when understeering (in GT5). I was worried that it was a problem with the wheel if it didn't get tighter when understeering. But MARC BOLAN says that it should feel the same throughout. Can anyone clear it up for me?
