Hi all,

I am a new member and I believe many of you will have trouble understanding my situation and my struggle to enjoy my new found at home form of joy and entertainment which is simRacing (although I wouldn't say it's all been fun and games so far 😉)!

In order for you to understand my full predicament I'd best fill you in. I'm a 71 year old retired man, I spent many years working abroad and returned to the UK after an accident where I damaged my legs and I've had the last few years in and out of hospital with various illnesses, I am not at all technically (hardware/software) literate and my memory is atrocious. I have no close family members so no kids around to handle the clever stuff or teach me how to play the games or what I should expect from the wheel! So now you know what you are taking on if you choose to help (please do)!

Anyway, I did a lot of research before jumping in but it now appears perhaps not enough, as I've spent the last 20 days or so with my head glued to my computer and constantly changing my wheel and game settings, mostly to no avail!

I have the Logitech G29 wheel and peddle set also with the gear shifter, mounted on a Diwangus Steering Wheel Frame and my console is a PS5. So along with the games I've spent a fair few quid. I'm now at the point of thinking perhaps I should change to a different wheel (while I still can, though I don't really want to) but perhaps that wouldn't make any difference as I'm not conversant with the equipment and whether or not the way it is, is exactly, as it should be, as it seems I'm not alone with the issue and mostly I've found that most workable solutions suggested are found in the G Hub Settings which don't apply to a PS Console I've found!

I guess my biggest problem boils down to the fact that I'm pretty isolated and have nobody to discuss or compare the virtues of the different equipment or games with as I would have if I had physical friends who were also into gaming (simRacing).

I'm thinking that perhaps my expectation were far different than the equipment can deliver, another result perhaps of having no circle of friends who race and could have guided or adviced me!

I'm also thinking that perhaps my wheels force feedback could be the issue as I have never used a wheel before, perhaps I had the wrong idea about how it would act and influence the action! Basically my issue is that I expected the steering on modern cars would be smooth and precise and not as juddery, stiff and/or loose as the feedback I'm getting, regardless of whatever settings I put in (which is all done on spec not knowledge)!

So, I'm hoping you guys can help me sort things out. I thank you for taking the time to read this post and helping out if you are able!

Thank You.
Martin.

Hi, I appreciate your offer and would love to take you up on it but I'm having as much trouble trying to send you a request as I am with working out how to use the wheel and again it seems I'm not alone doing so as there are many posts with others asking how to add friends on GT Planet as there are those asking for help with every other thing!

Once I work it out or someone tells me how to I'll get right back to you. I just didn't want you thinking I was being rude or ignorant by rejecting your kind offer!

Maybe I'm just stoopid!

Cheers🍻

If you're playing on console there's no need to be changing the wheel settings on the PC; they won't apply for your console games.

That really rather depends on which game you're playing.

However, be aware the G29 is an older, entry level wheel (made for PS4, but compatible with PS5) and is gear-driven so you will feel more notchiness than a belt-drive or direct drive wheel.

You have not said which cars you are having problems with. How long have you been playing with wheel did you start out on controller? Start out with license test . One thing that you will notice is that you can not turn car while using much braking, it will just slide straight. I find the shifter to be not so great I use the paddles. Start out with cars that are not fun to drive (low power).

Well you definitely came to the right place. This community is filled with very intelligent and surprisingly very kind and compassionate. But we all have bad days🫣
I believe the friend request people offer/talk about is through your PSN account. (Like your friends on PlayStation and can compare stats or chat) feel free to ask anyone questions 🍻
