Looking at buying the G29 shifter but I’ve read that several people have had issues with this shifter on GT Sport. I have some questions about the setup:
Are these issues everyone is having or a select few?
If you had problems in the past have they been resolved?
Does the clutch pedal work with the shifter? Any issues with it?

I don’t want to buy a shifter if it doesn’t work with the game.

Only had G29 for short while and the game of course. My limited experience is Shifter works on its own well. Using Shifter with clutch is more problematic - sometimes works, other times sticks gear into neutral as others have noted. Not driven enough cars to identify if it is specofic to certain cars or not.

I'm using a G25 with a Cronusmax, and so it emulates a G29. The clutch and shifter work the same as they have in previous GT games. If you don't time it just right, it will put you in neutral. I wish it would go back to the early GT5:Prologue days, where you could actually flatfoot shift, or at the least, similar to ProjectCars, where it is more forgiving if you don't hit it just perfect.

Having said that, if the car is sequentially shifted like many are in GTS, the clutch and h-pattern do not work. Since mine is a G25, my shifter will work in sequential mode, in sequentially shifted cars.

Can you shift without engaging the clutch?
No, it will not engage gears. Specially depending on models, from 1st to 2nd gear you need to do it carefully!
Had to repeat 3 or 4 times MiTo cones test as I was not engaging 2nd gear for couple of seconds :banghead::D

If you press clutch during a game it will automatically use clutch from then on. But as others have said you can miss a shift. I use it without clutch.

Thank you for all of the responses. I think I will take the plunge and make the purchase when my wife isn’t looking.
Lol your lucky Its “only” a Logitech shifter. Th8a is €150, fanatec SQ is €250 much more explaining to do to your wife

Instead of starting a new thread thought I might hijack this one for a question. I have the g29 and shifter. Possibly thinking about picking up the Th8a to use as a sequential gear box or other.
Question 1. If I do use the Th8a can it be programmed to do ebrake and or reverse
Question 2 kind of goes with above. In controller menu if i select the g29 wheel I don't like how limited I am on controls only to the wheel. Is there anyway to change what the pedals or shifter do or program some of those items to the wheel. In my case my kids like to play around here and there but they are small. Small enough I cannot get the pedals within their reach. In past games I could program the gas to a paddle or some other button so they could at least drive. I don't see accelerator as an option in the control menu for the wheel unless I am missing something?

But check the quality of the stick in real life first, and see if you can live with it. I was planning on buying it as well, but after fiddling a bit with it in the store, I found that it was way too plasticy and toy-like for me. Not to mention that the stick itself is unrealistically tiny. It's a matter of taste, but I don't think the build-quality meets the standards of a simulator.

Using stickshift and clutch to make faster gearchange. But im having BIG troubles.
im using G27 with cronusmax plus and latest FW going as a G29

how to replicate

im using Drivingschool 3, operate the steering wheel 2
Reving up engine taking of, going for 2nd gear
Clutch down shift to gear 2
Over 4000 rpm it goes to N and skips gearchange
Below 4000 it goes to 2nd gear.

it ONLY put s in 2nd gear if engine is below 4000 RPM
if doin to quick it will be in neutral dropping that gear and messing everything up.
So please fix so there is no RPM limit
All cars i have driven IRL have no such thing, only RPM limiter when in neutral.
All cars can be held in max gas when pressing clutch and shifting so not loosing to much torque. aka motorcross shifting maintaining gas while shifting

So i seen this is a issue in all GT but how will we make Polyphony listen?
