Game stopped working (2004 game on Win7)

So i've gotten nostalgic again, and wanted to play FIFA 2004 on PC again.

Installed it fine, but after launching it, it just goes to a black screen for 5-10 seconds, then I get the message it stopped working.

I've tried running it through different compability modes (Vista, XP and 2000 and all the different service packs for those OS), and added the .exe to the DEP (Data Execution Prevention). Still not working.


Anyone got any solution to this? Would be much appreciated.

Are there any patches for windows 7.

Have you installed DX9.

I have the same problem with NfS: C on Win 8.

Try VirtualBox. You'd need a copy of Win98/XP/whatever, however.

Like Grayfox, I'd suggest installing DX9.

Neiter works.

Found out that I can run it through:

Right click icon on desktop -> Properties -> Compability -> Then pick "Help me choose settings" -> Opens a new window, then pick "Click to open troubleshooting for programcompability -> Let the program choose the correct settings (same settings which I tried manually) -> And then start it from there.

Must do it every single time though, but it for some reason works. Haha.

Haven't tried it, but i'll give it a try later on.
