Okay so I've got the disc for Race Injection. In the manual it says you can play the game in offline mode with no online multiplayer (it's dead anyway). First time around I installed it on Steam it was on my Brother's account (this is a disc copy that has a Steam key for Online install) soon after my brother had to do a factory reset on the PC and he never put him Steam account back on that PC. I tried to install Race Injection again this time on my own account and it said it was already used by another user and if I wanted to retrieve that account. That isn't the problem I then tried to do an offline install but it would not let me it wouldn't even give me the option of an offline install. This is really annoying me because I love this game a lot.

The manual says "Race Injection comes with the option of installing an Online or Offline version of the game. You are able to install both versions of the game by repeating the steps as described below."
1. "Start Windows"
2. "Insert the disc into the ROM drive if autoplay is enabled, a launcher will appear. SELECT ONLINE OR OFFLINE INSTALLATION and follow the instructions" Why can't I do this!?!?! :banghead:
Step 3 and 4 are just about if you have Autoplay disabled and graphic configuration.

Help would be greatly, greatly, greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Looks like you need an internet connection no matter which installation method, could be that the offline mode just doesn't install the online portion and maybe the DRM of the game or omething. You could login to your brother's Steam on your PC to install the game if you or him remember it so that you can install it.

No I do have a connection but when I go to install it directs me to Steam without giving me the option of offline or online and then I have to punch in the key that has already been used. I might not be wording this fantastically, there might just not be a work around.

Oh, you need the original account then. It must use Steam for the install so you will need your brother's steam ID and password in order to install it on your PC and you will probably need to sign into his Steam anytime you want to play it. How it happened for me with Cities in Motion

So the manual is incorrect? Or is it you just need the one account to install offline?

I'm not sure how it is for RACE but you'll need his account to initially install it atleast

If I'm understanding this correctly, your disc version of the game uses Steamworks DRM. That means the CD key that came with it has been registered to your brother's account, so you either need him to log in and install it - after which point you can log in as him in offline mode to play or you can log in as yourself and play online but it'll kick you off if he logs in in online mode and launches a game (that's the family sharing feature) - or you have to buy your own copy. If you choose the latter wait for the inevitable huge reduction during the Christmas sale or watch out for it in a bundle; Bundlestars has had numerous bundles involving Simbin sims for super cheap.

Thanks. It is my own copy though xD

I know, but Steamworks games (as I'm assuming this is) are the key, disc or no disc, if he's registered it then he's essentially stolen your copy!

This doesn't matter very much. I registered it and played it for a long while so no he didn't steal it.

The point is you have a useless disc if you don't have the key so you either need access to your brother's account or a new copy.
