Hello all. As many of you know, I am an avid fan of rFactor.
For those of you that don't know much about rFactor, it is a PC racing sim.
It is infinitely expandable through the creation of "mods." These are community made modifications for the game. People can model out tracks and cars and edit the physics files to be put into the game.
Everything is free and legal (except the game, you need to pay for that), and you can drive nearly anything at whatever track you choose.

One of my favorite rFactor features is the ability to perform driver swaps online with other people. I'll be using this feature in the coming race.

The race is 12 Hours long from noon to midnight GMT. The race will be ran in realtime, so it will be dark when we finish.

We will be driving historical sportscars from the 1960s. My team is going to drive a Porsche 906 against 3 Ferrari 412Ps and one other Porsche in our class. There is also a GT class in which a few Porsche 911R 2.0s will be pitted against a handful of Ferrari 250 GTOs.

The Fezzas are significantly more powerful than the Porsches. However, we have significantly better fuel economy.

Here are the qualifying results from earlier today, my team name is Champion Motorsports. We qualified third.

Quali results:

Note that a handy feature of rFactor is the ability to create your own liveries using photoshop. Naturally, I went for the psychedelic theme. :D

Enough about the cars, what's a Sachsenring?
Today, I believe it is used as a MotoGP track.
However, it was MUCH different back in the 60s.

And a video of a couple (relatively slow) laps:
Warning: Sound may cause orgasms.

Live timing will be available here.
My name will show up as Thomas Roth, my teammates are James Knowles, PaulH, and Patrick Spence is a back up driver.

My team will update this thread on our team's website. When I'm not driving, I'll try to transfer those posts over to here.

I've got the first stint, Paul the second and third, James the fourth, and then I'll take the checkered. Stints are a little over two and a half hours.

More event info can be found here.

Now I'm off to hunt some Italians!

Some pics from testing earlier this month, (not sporting our Hippie Car livery).

I wish you luck. I don't race on the PC, or game at all on the PC for that matter, but I wish your team luck.

Go get'em Gatrs!! Any live streams??

May the force feed back be with you!!

Good luck chap, seconding Jav's question about streams. Also; edit: I'm an idiot who can't read.

Stints over and I'm out of the car.
Here's my report:

Started off great. Made up one position on the line and was able to keep that Ferrari behind me. Around lap 10, I made a mistake. Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake. Put it into a light post coming into the village. Had to escape, 2 lap penalty. Made it 3 laps, put it into a hay bail. Well, not a hay bail. A block of concrete painted to look like a hay bail. Another 2 lap penalty.
Other than that, the stint went very well. We pit around lap 47, a little early, but stayed out any longer, and I likely would have made a mistake.
After I rejoined the second time, engine health was at 94%. I lost 3% over the 30 laps or so of using that engine. So it's at 91% now.
I already made up one lap on the leader. Only 3 laps down now, 2 laps to the next position. Paul can make that up pretty easily.

I'll try and get a livestream showing just Paul's car up on my own...

I just woke up. Seems like I missed some action. I'm watching the live stream right now, but there's no sound. Is it just me?

Good luck out there!

EDIT: Close call with that GTO!

EDIT 2: Got tagged by the #69 Porsche 911R.

EDIT 3: It doesn't seem like your vehicle is up to speed.

Ooh. Four hours to go. It says James Knowles is currently in third place and only 3 laps down on the leader but way ahead of fourth place 👍

That's some pretty awesome driving (so far). Fingers crossed for the next 4 hours :)

PS Only one complaint gogatrs. I watched that video and listened to the sound... And not one orgasm occurred :(

By the way, your Firewall is off!

Edit: Hmmm. Seems like live timing is not updating correctly either. At one point, it said you guys were dead last with the safety car beating over half of the field.

hehe, sorry about the stream guys. I forgot that I had turned audio off to save bandwidth a few weeks ago.
I took it down now since my stint is coming up soon.
NExt race I'll get my teammates all set up with the livestream software so you can watch me drive as well.

Hope your last stint is going ok. By the time you read this, you'll be finished I guess.
Well, well done on completing a great (tough) race challenge 👍

Look forward to reading all about it when you've recovered. Have you got pit girls lined up for the chequered flag? :D

Checkered is out!

That last stint was AMAZING for me. Car felt awesome. Not a single mistake.
Finished three laps down. But I was closer to five laps down when I took control with two hours to go.

If it weren't for my two **** ups we would have one. Great great race.

More detailed report and future plans will be posted later.

Final results.

Some pics, not done by me:

The start. I started third. Was in second by turn three. Had an opportunity to take the lead, but decided against it.

Basically the first fifteen laps in a nutshell, until my first mistake.
