Hi all,

I wonder if any tuners or anyone has had a chance to look at the following windows application called GearCalc that can be used to derive the maximum speed given the gear ratios, tire size, etc...

http://www.locost7.info/gearcalc.php

I had a play with it and found that it was pretty close compared to GT5P's results. I only tried it out with the F430, some gears were spot on but the higher gear usually is way off (i.e. GT5P's max speed is much higher).

The max speed shown for any gear in GT5P is at redline, except for the top gear, which is at the rev limit. The difference between the redline and the rev limit is what gives you the error.

Max speed is rarely reached on GT5P accept on the Speedway usually. I always tuned my gears by the power/torque graph on GT5 itself (allowing any engine adjustments to be taken into account), combined with a bit of instinct and track knowledge.

Aahh.. that explains it 👍 I'll have a play with this more & try it out with more cars. Thanks!

Yup, I understand that we rarely can achieve the max speed on the track but its good to know the limit anyway. But my main objective was just to compare this tool and how GT5P calculates the limit.
