Gear Ratios?

For the gear ratios in GT3, I usually set the auto level to the lowest for acceleration and the gears themselves all the way to the left...as far as they can go......and i use the final gear ratio to even it out between speed and acceleration...

Does anybody else do that besides me? I find that it works quite well...good acceleration and good speed... i dunno...cuz usually when i ask people for setups...the gear ratios...are usually inbetween the sports and the wide...but Im no sure which way is better?

Any suggestions?

Apart from quirks it doesn't really make any difference. You could get the same result either way but your way is probably less time consuming.

Sometimes I use the sports/wide slider as a start and then fiddle with 5-6 to help with top speed. I am doing this with the turbo F1s. I am working on the theory that you need gears 1-4 fairly short to improve low down acceleration but on the straights the turbo will come into its own so you need longer 5-6 gears.

I have started extensive testing to get the best test track time with the F1s and ended up playing with 5-6 and final drive to get the best combination. This is the only time I tend to bother with final drive.

I don't claim to be the best gear tuner out there and have heard about a quirk/trick where you set final drive and the sports/wide slider to an extreme (Can't remember which) and somehow this gives you the best ratios. I think it was more exaggerated in GT2. I am sure someone will post here.

Any theroies as to why a tranny wont come outta 4th just hunts back an forth from 4th an 5th gear.

What I do is first take the final to the top right (you'll see close gears), then take the auto level to the top left or 2 levels less (then you'll see very very close gears), then take the final to the top left or near and then put widest 1st and 2nd and 3-4-5 very close and 6th wide enough to top speed. What I want to make is a more than 100km/h in first to avoid wheelspin, then 3-4-5 close for acceleration, and 6 to top speed. What do you think??

Was in hopes that CB codes were available for tall gears, such as in the Viper GTS

I think that you imply to alter the gears from within the game. I have attempted to make changes from there to no avail.... What I need are cheat codes to alter the gear settings... Regardless, thank you for your tip/suggestion

BTY...Your English is just fine, hella lot better then my Spanish it sucks

Finally got the hp upwards of 450,000 but the damn tach goes looney, an the tranny shifts worse than ever, but at least the top ends gettin there at 590 mph...

Solved the screwy tranny problem... Appears it was in the downforce all the tyme... I'm satisfied with 1,498 mph
