This is made by the same people who made Bulletstorm too! Epic Games is passing on the reins to a different developer now.

I knew it wouldnt be long until the next Gears of War game (prequal) was announced. I called this a long long time ago. But to be honest, I didnt expect it until the next console.

Should be fun but I really dont think this will be a purchase for me. GOW3 just came out and I have way way too much to do in that game before even considering another GOW game. Way too soon for this.

I still need to 'get' GOW3. It was on my list for sure, summers here now though and outside is calling me, but GOW3 is definitely on the list. I would have expected the next GOW to be on the next gen console as well. :odd:

Epic Games buys People Can Fly

The Verge
Epic Games now owns Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly, a studio they acquired a majority share of in 2007, the company told Polygon today.

The purchase of the Warsaw, Poland-based developer was tied to the departure of Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki, Epic's Mark Rein told Polygon in an interview. It won't impact the game's the studio is working.

"We doubled down on People Can Fly," Rein said. "It was something we always hoped to do."

Gears of War: Judgment Free-for-All Mode & Limited Folio Edition Unveiled

All Games
“Gears of War: Judgment,” the most intense and challenging “Gears” game yet, just got even more amped as Microsoft and Epic Games revealed a brand new exhilarating mode, Free-For-All.

This new multiplayer experience throws team tactics out the window as each player battles for survival and kills versus all other players. A first for the Gears of War series, the Free-For-All mode pits COG soldier on COG soldier in a test of wits and will.

To debut the new mode with a bang, Epic Games and Microsoft have announced two new maps – Gondola and Library – featuring the Free-For-All Mode:

Gondola – The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.

Library – The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honour, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.

The Limited Folio Edition is limited to only 300 copies, but comes with plenty of bells and whistles, such as a special cover with embossed titles, a hand-crafted presentation case which comes with a ribbon for easy placement or removal of the book from the box, and an exclusive metal-carved cover ornament. Not to mention over 300 pages of art from all stages of GoW 3's development.

Cliff Bleszinski departs from Epic Games/Industry

News10
Blezinski is departing from his post as Epic Games' design director to focus on other endeavors. During his 20 years with the company, Blezinski has had his hands in iconic video game franchises such as Gears of War and Unreal.

Upon his departure, he stated that he literally grew up within the industry. He began his career when he was a teenager.

"And now that I'm grown up, it's time for a much needed break," stated Cliffy B. in the blog post.

He would go on to say he would miss the projects, debates, and the people he's gotten to know over the past two decades.

I am still only going to be renting this. I have way too much to do in GOW3 to even consider buying GOW Judgement.

Judgment has gone gold

Very little promotion and advertisement for this title so far. We know the next console is around the corner, but still very strange on the lack of push for this one.
Because, as mentioned before in this thread, its just way too early for another GOW game. I knew prequals and spin offs were going to happen, just didnt expect it to happen this soon. In fact they were even working on an RTS for GOW called Exile. (got cancelled) Plus now that Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson have both left the GOW franchise, we really cant expect much from the GOW series. I will rent this but I have low expectations for it.

I thought it looked interesting, but not enough to buy.

I have Gears 1-3, and while I enjoyed playing them, I never really got into them. Basically I played through the story on each once ... but thats about all I did.

Rented and played a few hours of the co-op campaign last night in simulated 3D. It didnt have true 3d like GOW3 but the simulated 3d still looked very good. With that said I am enjoying the game so far. It still feels like gears, just with a few minor changes. I plan to finish up the co-op campaign then check out the survival mode. No interrest in the mp. So far it has been a great rental.

Finished up the Judgment campaign twice and the Aftermath campaign once. The Judgment campaign was actually pretty dang good both times playing through. About 8 hours each time. Aftermath was terrible and you can tell it was a GOW3 dlc that got cancelled. Survival is ok for a little while. Overall a great rental but not a game I would have paid $60.00 for.
