Gemballa Stormtrooper Enzo

Stormtrooper Enzo

Go on, take another good look at that picture. Struggling with your gag reflex? We understand, but stick at it. Somehow this thing gets better the more you stare at it.

It's another tuned wonder from German uber-tweakers Gemballa - a jet-fighter inspired Enzo called Mig-U1.

It looks like an FXX that's wearing a bit too much make-up, and Gemballa claims the long list of aerodynamic changes - including wide arches, reprofiled nose, roof scoop, assorted gills and that massive rear wing - are worth an extra 35kg of downforce at the front and 85 at the back.

Inside, it's a mix of equally in-yer-face Alcantara and leather with some, er, nice red touches. A revised centre console helps house a 950-watt stereo system with seven-inch touchscreen.

Power? Thanks to an upgraded ECU and exhaust you're looking at 700bhp and, apparently, those new alloys save you 16kg over the standard alloys which might help the handling a bit. And perhaps offset that likely quite hefty interior.

There's no word on prices yet, but Gemballa is talking about transforming 25 Enzos, tailored to customer's own taste. Check out its website for what ‘taste' means in this context. Mr Enzo, we fear, would not have approved...

Not really sure how I feel about it, part of me says burn it while rolling it off a cliff and the other part says it's awesome.:nervous:

That's due to it being part gemballa and part Enzo.

Seriously, it's like Hamman, they just RUIN the most exotic and beautiful machinery. Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis...they just make them uglier than...I don't know...susan boyle? Neither they make the car's performance much better than a true specialist would, they job is just turning the car to an absolute load of 🤬.

I mean, look at this other creations from Hamman and compare them to this "Used-to-be Enzo":

Wrong.

Vomit-producing Wrong :ill:.

Came Wrong from factory, even much worse now.

How can they call this artwork? It's like giving this cars to 6 yr old kids...such a waste 👎.

I know what you mean, when Obafemi Martins was playing for Newcastle he used to drive around town in a Gemballa Cayenne. The car looked really good but if seen next to a standard Cayenne it just looked like a badly done project car.

But I do quite like the Enzo

@CarBastard - Two of those pictures you posted are fantastic cars

If they knocked off that ridiculous wing, it would look schweet.

I never really liked the Enzo. But aside from the too-big wing, I think it's an awesome accent to the Enzo's lines. Probably the best Enzo I've seen. But that still isn't saying all that much.

But an improvement is an improvement, right?

Funny how you pick the worst of the worst & ignore the rest of Hamann's brilliant lineup.

Hamann's biggest issue is the exterior they throw on. Remove the stripes, keep the 2-tone to a minimum & the lips color matching, & the cars start to look pretty sharp.

I'm undecided on the Enzo. I could do without the hood vent and the front bumper's extensions at the corners need removed as well. And they might not look as bad in person, the two-tone makes it look like they stick out pretty far in the picture but not so much in comparison to the splitter.

Meh, not one of gemballa's best works. They should really just stick to Porsches.

I completely disagree about this car here, doesn't completely go overboard with the exterior modifications and actually has good matching colors. The others however(excluding the Mercedes since that picture won't show up for some reason) I do agree with you on.

would it have been too much trouble to move the wing all the way to the back of the car? it just looks stupid, "i want more downforce on the rear wheels... 💡 so i'll put the wing right over them."

it is my opinion that unless you are making it look like or into a GT type racecar (see below), cars like Ferraris and Lambos should be left alone

I like it. It reminds me of a gundam.

@carbastard - I think its just the paint jobs. Come on you know that the ferrari would look 100x better if the stripes were silver or something. IMO I like how the bentley looks... Porsche looks like a frog to begin with. You can't improve on the cayenne. I don't think its possible. But yeah your right it does look worse.
I think they improved the design of the Carrera GT though look for yourself.

Good luck driving a car with GT racing modifications on the road. And btw, many of the Hamann lips are racing inspired.

Now that's how the Enzo should have been from the factory! :D 👍 All it needs now is some rocket launchers and machine guns.

So form before function? Its more effective to push down right above the axle. Theoretically, if you have it placed aft of the axle, its slightly functioning as a lever to lift the front of the car. Some rally Evos had their wings set right at the end of the rear window for a while. I couldn't find any just now, so I'm assuming it didn't work as well for them because there's reduced airflow over them because of the sedan shape. Shouldn't be as much of a problem on the Gallardo.

Im usually not a big fan of putting all that tupper ware on an exotic ride but I must say that this one turned out quite nice. A bit over the top but still neat and elegant at the same time.... I would take it... for sure 👍

I'm feeling the exact same with this car. One look it's BURN IT, the next it's WOW, a third it's back to BURN IT and so on.....

Yeah, to me that thing looks wicked. But thats because I thought a Nissan Cube looked better than the original Enzo...

So form before function?

This.

I don't care how many more lips they throw on that Enzo. It's been made lighter, more powerful, more downforce. It will go faster than any other Enzo in the world, and the FXX was already an insanely wicked car. I think the whole thing looks fantastic.

Well, that IS an Enzo with a bodykit and some engine/chassis mods. I could see where you're coming from.

IMO, all these tuning house (Gembala, Hamaan, Mansory, 9ff, Ruff) produce stuff only suitable for Russian ganstas and footballers... in other words, people who think the most important thing in life is to let other people know you have loads of money.

Modifying a Ferarri for example... OK, so you might have too much money, be blind, have no taste, and actually like the exteriors... but do you seriously believe that a 2 man operation (I exagerate!) can somehow magically improve on a car that a major manufacturer originally built with almost limitless resources and technollogy?

IME, whenever I've read reviews of these pieces of garbage they have been crucified.

EDIT: If you drive any of these cars down a normal road in a normal town, the only people who will think you are cool are 14 -18 Y/O 'yoofs'... everyone else will think you are a flash **** with no taste.

That's a blatant stereotype. You could just as well say the same thing for anyone who buys a Ferrari (and leaves it stock)...which is a stereotype again. The owners of exotic cars who have their cars modified by tuners like Gemballa are simply not so caught up on badge mystique and the heritage of the car, and are looking for ways to improve the performance of the car as well as looks. You may not agree that it pleases your eye as much (or more) as the stock Enzo, but SOME do).

Fact is, they did improve on the car from a performance standpoint. Pretty much any factory production car in history, no matter how impressive from the factory, has always left a window open (even if small) to improve on the vehicles performance in some area.

In the case of the Gemballa Enzo, they were able to increase the engines output by 40hp (engine software and exhaust), while taking off massive amounts of rotational/unsprung weight by using a much lighter wheel package. It was also mentioned that the body kit increased downforce by 85kg (unknown speed).

OR, you could just not get so caught up on what anyone else thinks! 💡

To use as a track day car I think it's very good, racing look and performance increased, but I wouldn't never use a kitted Enzo like that just to do a drive in my city to get myself noticed... it's sure :)
