Get In and Go

Welcome to the Get In and Go Spot Series. The series will feature events that you can participate in with relatively little effort in tuning or preperation. Basically, you get in a car and go. Each event will feature one car, at one track so the emphasis will be on driving skills, not picking the best car, or having the best tuning skills. The races will mostly be in the Arcade mode, but there will be some in the Simulation mode when an appropriate challenge arises. There will be some races using your garage cars, but these will have very specific allowable modifications, and settings.

This series will be held at a number of boards concurrently, and will be a weekly event.

This series is based upon a combination of the single spot of the same name held by Slowpoke at RaceLine forums, along with single spot race held at the IMSA forum at IMSA forum participants request.

Is it a Spot or a Series?

Well, it is both. Participants are more then welcome to join in just an individual event that appeals to them, or they may run on a regular basis, all comers are welcome.

Racing Format.

There will be both a Qualifying Session, and Race Session.

Qualifying will be in Free Run, and will be unlimited number of laps. You will be submitting your fastest clean lap. There will be no points or ranking status for qualifying, although you will receive a time penalty for you qualifying result.

Qualifying times will always be due on a Thursday, Midnight Eastern Standard Time… although if you get me the time before I post results from work the next morning, all is well.

You are allowed, and encouraged to discuss your sector 2 times.

How does the qualifying penalty work?

The penalty will be based upon the fastest qualifying time submitted. The fastest time will receive no penalty. All others will receive a penalty equal to their differential behind the fastest time, times a multiplier. For events of two or three laps, the mulitplier will be one (1) and for longer events, the multiplier will be two (2). So if the race is in Arcade Mode, Hard mode (5 lap race), and you qualify .5 seconds off the fastest time, you will start the race with a 1 second penalty. For those who wish to participate in the race, but do not qualify, your penalty will be equal to that of the slowest qualifier, plus .5 second.

Racing

All events will have their details specified, with most events being in the Arcade Mode, Medium, Hard or Professional Level. There will also be some Simulation races. You may attempt multiple runs to achieve your best time.

Your final standings will be based upon your submitted time + you qualifying penalty.

Racing times will be due on Monday, Noon Eastern Standard Time, no exceptions.

The Drivers Standings Rank System. (your DSRS)

The rank will be your average finishing position in the race, given your meeting the minimum standards as explained below. If your results have been 8, 10, & 3, your DSRS will be 7.

This will also be run as a Series, and will use a rather unique ranking system. In order to recieve a Get In and Go ranking, you must have participated in a minimum of three (3) events, and at least 1/3 of all events held, since the date you first joined the series.
That is to say, you could join in after event 20, participate in events 21 & 22, and receive a ranking right along side those who have participated since day one. Additionally, this allows for those real life events that just happen, such as vacations, family matters….. So you can run with us, but not be penalized in the standings for things that we know will just happen.

The Rules.

Qualifying. – No wall touches of any kind are allowed, you must keep two wheels of the vehicle touching something paved at all times.

Racing – Try and keep clean, and have fun. There may be races where the AI will push you into the wall, and there will be some rubbing. Do not wall ride, or crash into either the AI or the walls to assist your efforts. Do keep your driving within limits that would be acceptable in real life, and please keep your runs honourable.

Looks like we will have a good close race here, as the grid is very tight. Personally, I can't seem to put together a good lap, as my best sectors is MUCH quicker then what I could put together. My fastest lap T2 was 51.9xx, yet I'd managed 50.8 T2 on other laps..

Good Luck and Happy Racing.
