We knew Chrysler would be returning to its well known pentastar logo after the sale of itself from DaimlerChrysler to Cerberus Capital Management went through, and that day was last Friday. Soon after we got a tip from a reader pointing us to a new website promoting "The New Chrysler", as well as its new look pentastar logo.
Big things are happening at Chrysler, obviously, including the sale, name change to Chrysler LLC, and the announcement of the automaker's new, industry-leading lifetime powertrain warranty. The new website touts all these things and tells us to "Get Ready for the Next Hundred Years". If you're interested in a breakdown of Chrysler's relationship with Cerberus, it's got that too.
Thanks for the tip, Tool!

 Long live Chrysler!

We'll see. Make their new products as appealing as whats coming from Ford and GM these days and I'll be a happy camper.

First and foremost they need some build quality increases. They are definately behind GM and Ford on that...among other things. Secondly, design--95% of what has been coming out has looked like a donkey's ass. With exception of the Magnum and Charger. Everything else is rubbish to look at.

Chrysler will never be back to the way it was, their products suck way to much for anything good to happen with them. I really hope they don't go under since their world HQ basically supports the area I live it but I really don't want to hold my breath on that.

I'm hopeful that Cerberus is willing to dump enough cash into the development programs to make their cars more worthwhile than before. Generally speaking the cars aren't the absolute worst things out there, but there are a lot of improvements to be made. I could see Cerberus deciding to dump more money into the interiors, which would be greatly appreciated, but I have no idea if they'd do it any time soon.

Furthermore, I often wonder how Cerberus plans to work with Mercedes (still a 20% owner?) and Mitsubishi (old ties still remain) on future products. I personally would rather dump money into American development groups to create the new vehicles instead of platform and engine sharing with companies that really don't offer much in return... Its arguably why the Caliber and Sebring/Avenger didn't turn out so well, furthermore, how so many of their products could be several times better.

Given that they are now technically a "private" company again, they get to do stuff a bit differently. Hopefully without the watchful eyes of shareholders and the demands for instant profits end up making Chrysler a better company. Time will tell, but one has to hope that someone in upper management knows what the hell they're doing. I hear Bearnhardt (however his name is spelled) is back, which may be a good think. Having car guys run a car company is a novel idea, take a look at GM and what Lutz has done, and you can get an idea as to what will happen with Chrysler (hopefully).

See my post in the thread made for it...

...I'm uncertain if it was the correct move or not...
