Hey Guys,

I am starting to get into tuning. I will be tuning what are normally pretty common, plain cars into tuned up awesome fun rides! Some of these will then go on trade in my thread. My First project is the Suzuki Swift Sport 07. I have purchased some sweet parts and weight reduction etc but thought I should get some basics on the actual tuning aspect.

Anyone want to give some advice?

Figure out what changes what first. don't mess with everything and then go out for a lap. If you do that, your car will act totally different and you won't be able to figure out what did what?

Also, research what other people did. find a decent set up on another car and see how that differs from the stock set up.

Thanks for the reply. I just decided to go out for a lap with all my parts. Then I went into tuning, read the help and made my adjustments. Managed to knock just under 3 seconds off my time :)

try not to change to muh at a time, unless you know the effects of everything, yesterday, I tried changing everything in suspension, and the downforce, and made my piece of junk nascar driveable i got pretty lucky on that

Don't expect big changes in quick lap times.

I remember once, my best lap with an RX-7 build was almost the same as the lap I made when I reversed everything haha

In summary: You may THINK it feels better and is quicker, but unless your driving is flawless, you probably won't notice, unless we're talking about an absolutely horrible tune compared to a near perfect one.

So really, I'd read up on how to tune cars OUTSIDE of Gran Turismo (in real life), and tune based on MR/FR/FF and weight, then adjust slightly for over/understeer using general guidelines. Getting hung up on exploiting the physics of GT4/5 takes a great deal of time, but if you're up for it then go ahead!
