Hello everyone, I'm a new member here but the site was suggested to me because of the great and intelligent community so I've come here with a question if you don't mind.

I have recently become very interesting in vinyl records and I would like to know what equipment I should purchase in order to have the most complete and high quality experience. I have nothing right now other than the actual records so I will need suggestions for the record player, speakers and things of that nature. My budget is around $300 or so but I wouldn't be too terribly upset if I went over that.

Thank you for your time and help.

Is that $300US? For a decent setup you might want to spend a little bit more than that. The turntable itself can set you back $300, but I think, there might be some decent USB turntables out there for under $200. Then you've also got the pre-amp and speakers to think about too, which can also set you back a further couple of hundred dollars each. For your price range, you might be better looking into a vintage/second hand setup but my knowledge of vinyl/record player setups isn't that great so I'd wait for a few more replies.

My first setup was a vintage one, which set me back $200AU, it wasn't too bad but the speakers started playing up and the turntable itself was being a bit troublesome too. If I had a bit more technical know-how, I would probably still be running that setup today but just recently I purchased a brand new setup which I'm very happy with. But again, let's see if anyone else has some better input than myself!

I've also made a thread dedicated to vinyl, which you might like to check out.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, that is $300 US.

I've been reading you vinyl thread as well but I didn't want to send it off topic since it seems to be about the records themselves rather than the equipment.

Thanks again.

Edit: I actually didn't see the post on the last page about your equipment, I was on page 2 when I decided to start this thread.
