So today i decided i want to make a car go as fast as possible. I chose the HPA R32 (Golf, not a skyline). Remember, this is my first time really fiddling with the settings, so any tips/tricks are appreciated.

Start:
I Bought the car, bought every mod needed for this attempt.

First Run:
didn´t touch the settings at all for this one. just bought the car and modifications. 631HP and Racing/Super hard tires. No NOS. No downforce.
287.48 km/h :scared: Not very much :P

Second run:
Lowered to the max, otherwise default suspension settings.
Auto settings on transmission set to 23, and final to 4.900.
LSD kept default.
Driving aids off.
No NOS or downforce.
334.02 km/h  but a bit better.

Third run:
The same settings as in the second run, but now with a wing and full donwforce.
325.12 km/h :ouch: throw the wing away mofos!!

Fourth run:
Increasing the final to 5.100
326.80 km/h damn. Well, you gotta learn from your mistakes. :dopey:

Fifth run:
Final to 4.870
Hmph 325.9 :grumpy: gotta try again.

Sixth run:
Experimental, final back to 4.900
WTH?!?! 325.40 km/h O_o and it was 334.02 last time i tried. Maybe the car ran better, because it just had its oil changed.. or something...

Seventh run:
experimental again, Final back to 5.100
333.7 km/h? This is getting weird O_o...

Eight run:
the same settings as in the seventh run.
333.9 km/h i dont know what just happened, but im glad it did.
(These are the same settings as in the fourth run, but this time this is even faster...)
Hmm, maybe i did the "gear trick" accidentally as i fiddled with the settings?
Or then it must be theway i launch, because first i just pressed x, so taht the tires would spin freely, now im controlling the gas more. But i thought that that kinda things wouldnt matter so much in a high speed run?

Well gotta test that tomorrow, now im going to leave. Will come back tomorrow and test some more. Bye.

Actually, you have two things working against you.
The HPA R34 has the aerodynamics of a thrown brick.
Also, if you want quick you raise the final drive to a higher numerical value.
If you want fast, as in high top speed, you want a lower numerical value for your final drive.
This of course, after you do the "tranny trick". Use search feature to find a full explanation.
Good luck in your attempts

Yes, but when i have the final set to 4.900 the car wont chnage to the sixth gear, but when its in 5.100 it changes in to sixth gear. I might even have to raise it to 5.150 or something like taht, but that will be after i get home from school.

You did not say (or I did not see) where you are running the car so I will assume you are doing this on Test Track. So here are a few suggestions.

First, and probably most important, this is GT4, not the real world. There can be any number of things that you would think would work but in GT4 do not behave as you would expect. Don't assume anything.

Pretty much everyone who tries for top speed starts with low ride height and minimal downforce - this is rarely the fastest setup (actually in my experience it is never fastest although I have not tried relatively slow cars such as this).

As mentioned above do the tranny trick, with autoset at 1 this should give you the tighest 1st to 6th gear range which will help keep the engine in the powerband as much a possible. Related to that as well, keep in mind that top speed will come right around the power peak - not necessarily redline.

The line you run can have a major impact on speed, try up high, in the middle, on the very inside.

Good luck.

Thanks guys for the helpfull tips. :)

I got the car to 333.94km/h so thats enough fiddling with the transmission (i set the final to 5.150), i also tried some stickier tyres, they dont really do anything. Now im going to play with the suspension. :dopey:

hey if anyone knows, does LSD affect speed? Differential, not the drug ;)

EDIT:
I just wrote a big ass story as how i fiddled some more, and got the car to 334.8 km/h, but it dissapeared :(

I just decided my goal will be 340 km/h, if i get pass that, ill be happy. :)
The current settings are:
Suspension:
-Ride height: 100 both front and rear
-Camber: Front 3.0 and rear 2.0
-Otherwise default ´Racing´ suspension.
The suspension really doesnt make such a difference in a "slow" car like this.

Transmission:
-Auto Settings: 23
-Final: 5.150
-Otherwise default `Fully customisable` transmission.
The most important part in making this car go as fast as possible, it still has some fiddling to do ;)

LSD:
-Initial torque: front and rear 30
-LSD acceleration 60 both front and rear
-Otherwise default `Fully customisable`LSD.

Tires are Racing/Qualify both rear and front.

I tried downfroce earlier on, didnt help, and NOS is unavailable for this car.

the top speed so far is 334 km/h. (I dont know, how much that is in mp/h.)

Edit2:
K, i put final to 4.900 and fifth gear to 0.530
334.5 km/h A new record! yay :P more fiddling needed.

Fifth gear to 0.540
334.6 km/h... ...

Final to 4.950
334.1km/h hmm...

'Final to 4.850
333.5..........

Final to 4.900 and fifth to 0.555
nah, 333 km/h...

I tested out some new settings because the old ones were done for, but the new ones werent better, so i guess this is it.
334km/h is the fastest speed I can manage in this car. Feel free to try yourself :)

The car has driven roughly 200-220 kilometres and has lost about 10-15 hp during the testing

P.S As you may notice, im not a patient person, this settings stuff really isnt my thing. But you gotta try everything atleast once. :P

If you want to, I can give you a setup good for at least 384 kph. I couldn´t get a pic though, my cellphone refused to connect to my computer :(
If you don´t want this setup, you better stop reading now!

This is the way:
Fit all the best parts plus oilchange and a wing (no rollcage); that gives you 631 bhp. R5 tyres.

Suspension
Springs: as soft as possible F/R
Rideheight: 110/60
Dampers 1 all around
Camber: 0.5/0.0
Toe: -1/3
Stabilizers: 1/1

Camber, Toe and R5 tyres provides for more grip through the turn = more speed on corner exit.

Gears
Do the trannytrick (slide auto to 25, slide final to 5.500, slide auto to 5 and slide final to 2.675.
then adjust indivudal gears to;
1: 2.400
2: 1.710
3: 1.295
4: 1.040
5: 0.860
6: 0.745

I did this in about 5 minutes, so if you want to go faster, this is where you´ll find more speed. The R32 can most likely break 400 kph.

Driver aids all 0

Downforce
0/30

LSD
5/60
5/40
5/20
The front wheels should have as little drive as possible. Also, the initial torque at 60, locks the diff, so the other two are not important. This is done for more traction coming out of the turn.

VCD
set at 50, for as little drive as possible on the front wheels.

Have fun!

the aerodynamics is probably your biggest problem, but hey, keep on trying.

630 BHP in a golf. you'd think even with the terrible aerodynamics it would still go faster than 207 MPH.

dude, that really neat! Gotta try it sometime :P

Team666, your settings are pretty much what I had in mind - most differences might be worth a at most few fractions of a MPH. I did find one interesting thing though. I managed 245.58MPH (395KPH) on S3/S1 tires vs about 241MPH on R5's. Although the speed on R5's through the turn and into the tunnel was significantly quicker, the acceleration afterwards on the S1/S3's more than made up for that. And N3's were even quicker through the banking but I could not keep it off the barrier near the end of the turn.

Yeah, that´s usually the deal. Traction is important for the turn, but at the same time, you want as little traction as possible on the straights. R5 are great for LMP´s, but in such a "slow" car as the R32, less is more. I didn´t think about it much yesterday, I just made a setup in 5 minutes to see how it would do. :)
