The Ford Escort was introduced in Europe in 1968 to replace the aging Ford Anglia. There have been six generations to date, with the final version sold in 2004. Which of these compact commuters is your favorite generation?

I went with the second generation since it was still RWD, but I like the boxy looks compared to the first generation.

Based on the models pictured, I went with the Mark II. My favourite Escort of all time is the RS Cosworth.

As much as I love the MkII and it's fantastic rally pedigree, I spent too much time in the first 5 or 6 years of my life around extreme circuit MkI's not vote that way.

MKII I guess since the only options are the Euro Escorts.

Now a 3rd gen US Escort like I had in high school, I'd have that over any of these.

Yeah, I'm going with the Mark 1, it has a lot of character in comparison to the later generations and it sounds like it could be fun to drive.

I'm going to go with the Mark 1 because it looks the best out of all of them in my opinion and it is one of the most successful rally cars of all time.

MkI or II is a tough choice... have to go with the MkII though as my 2nd car was a signal yellow Mexico.

To this day, still the best gearbox I've ever experienced.

Just looking at the poll results after a day, it is quite obvious that the RWD Escorts are much more popular than the FWD models that followed. It will be interesting to see which of the two comes out as the top choice.

So who is going to be the one to mention that the Cosworth was actually a Sierra with an Escort-style body and shared very little with the Mk5 of the time?

Oh. Me I guess.

So my favourite Escort turns out to be another car that looks exactly the same as an Escort. That sucks.

However I still count it as an escort because of the body panels and name.
