Ghost Racing

Hi Guys,

Love the forum, really good info on here. Apologies if this should be posted somewhere else

I have a question/suggestion about the ghost car. Im a big fan of the time trial in GT5P, trying to better your time and move up the rankings. Sometimes if I make a mess of a corner I turn on the ghost to try and 'race' it round the rest of the lap, and at times I can make up ground as im able to use it as a reference.

My suggestion/question is: Do you guys think it would be useful to have the ghost starting about a second ahead further down the track on each lap as it would stop interfering with you as much when you are within thousenths of your best time?

It is a nice idea to have a delay on your own ghost or someone else ghost replay. It annoys me when your ghost is just ahead of you and it sits on your bumper. That normally results in me turning the ghost off for most of my laps just incase it affects me again.

Would be a nice feature if you could choose the gap your ghost started ahead of you 👍

As an aside, id love to be able to turn off the split times aswell. Its happened so many times that when I see blue i look to see the gap, its especially annoying at Suzuka East, where the first split is just before the esses complex. Ive mucked up the first turn so many times cause I got a better first sector!

or when the sector times up as soon as you have to turn in, i try not to look but i have to and end up making small mistakes...

Absolutely, yes. Great idea. I think I'd be down to a .5sec delay, just so it would be close enough I could see braking points better.
I'd also like to adjust the opacity, that would be useful as well.

Yeah, Jack made the same point. A calibration option would be really good.

I wonder if resetting at each split would work aswell. So if you start with a .5 gap but make that up by the first split, that it would then jump to .5 again for the second sector etc.

Opacity adjustment would be perfect. I like having it there, but it blocks my view a lot of the time

I have a G25 now, so I have to take a hand off the wheel to toggle. When I used to hotlap with my DFP, I'd always be toggling the ghost on and off throughout the lap, for the same reason. My own ghost 0.5 or so ahead would be perfect. 👍

yea great idea,i only use the ghost car to quickly turn it on and off at certain points to see if im ahead or behind

I'd like to see the ghost lap as an overlay on the track like the red and blue racing line overlay, except showing the line and breaking points for your ghost instead of the normal racing line. That way you could see exactly where your ghost is going and where it's braking.

I tried that but I want a ghost I can chase, not one that passes me twice before I reach the end of the first straight

Oh good, it's not just me then

I like the idea of having adjustable opacity. I mapped my ghost button to the R3 button on my G25 so I don't need to take my hand off, but more opacity would eliminate that need altogether.
