Gloves and Alcantara

For those of you with the Podium Racing Wheel F1 (Blue rim), what gloves would you recommend and has the blue color held up over an extended period. I am getting my grips replaced and I don't want to ruin this set. Any mid-priced recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

What a coincidence, got my Podium F1 yesterday and would benefit greatly from this Q/A. While waiting for someone with recommendations, would you describe how your original Alcantata got messed up? I mean aside from if you didn’t wear gloves at all. I destroyed my P1 rim that way!

Just like you said, I didn't wear gloves. I did initially but I didn't like the feel. The are not destroyed, just discolored from my hands.

Well I use gloves (have a dry skin so my palms tend to peal and stuff) but my rim still looks similar. I sweat trough my gloves tho and race a lot.

Also part of the bottom plastic is now smooth

You don't always need to replace the Alcantara, as in most cases it's not actually worn, but the fibres flattened with a mixture of pressure and oil and sweat from your skin, along with dead skin cells.

The good news is that a little valeting trick can get it back to pretty much as good as new.

I have my Alcantara wheel for about 3 years now. I don't wear gloves but I wash my hands before I use the wheel and clean it as above a few times a year. The cloth is still in great shape.
