God I hope there's going to be standing start racing...

I really hate the format of races in GT5 in the seasonals where you're placed at the back of the field and you have to chase down every other car in front of you.
I really do hope there are races where it actually starts in a proper racing grid (and even better if you have to do a qualifying lap first).... and I hope the AI is a lot better too!

Well the seasonals are a sort of extra challenge in the game, so the single file rolling start at the back does test your skills and patience (the latter, a whole lot.)

sure, but i'm pretty sure the last year or so 99% of the players trying to earn credits are doing seasonals

Not sure what skills you're looking for, good sir. I'd prefer to be honing my ability to do close quarter battle with racing-driver type opponents. Weaving through the A.I. on your way to the rabbit rundown is not helping anyone except for the hot-lappers who want more lively scenery..

Who wouldn't like some grid options? Besides maybe @Johnnypenso ... JohnnyP I think you should put a police light bar on top of that plastic flintstone-mobile ya got there! If you're gonna be tellin people what ta do!

Notice the silence? He's actually making that light-bar right now. It doesn't count if it don't flash, JohnnyP!!

My other nickname should be JohnnyOptions..I'm all about the options:D. Fixed paths are fine in an offline game like Last of Us, it makes perfect sense to follow the storyline. GT needs options upon options upon options, given the many different types of players for this game. Toggle switches on everything. Let us decide how we want to play and we'll all be a lot happier. :)

What I'm doing will make a lot more sense after December 6 when the boards are overflowing with duplicate threads along with uncountable "I feel" or "I want" or "I want to whine about..." threads. Just trying to get everyone in fighting shape to battle the carnage that occurs with any GT release:cheers:

Don't even ask why.

LMAO! That is IT, @KWZX10 !

Well if we're gettin all pumped up into fighting shape, we're gonna need some decent workout music..

And this track has @Johnnypenso all over it. Good for sit-ups and das pushups!

(I think I can spot Toko and Tenacious D in there)

I agree qualifying and grid start races should appear as options, of course. But I know I'd still prefer coming from last place chasing all the other cars. Overtaking is what I like when racing a sim and I'd just hate to have Vettel-like races, where you qualify first and never get to overtake a single car. Where's the fun? Actually in games where you have to qualify (F1 for instance) I basically go for last place just to have all grid in front of me to overtake. Again, it should be an option for those who like it.

I remember qualifying in GT4. I would race until I was number one on the grid and blow away the rest of the cars during the race, always coming in first. It got to be boring. I don't like chasing a rabbit, but qualifying would only work if the A.I. is more aggressive.

Yeah, a tidy forum benefits everyone. And besides, it's not very nice to leave all the cleaning up to the moderators.

You and the majority of folk on GT planet, chase the rabbit was introduced in 5 to hide the awful slow AI. Now that it seems that they finally addressed that (knock wood), there really is no need anymore for the rabbit formula to stay. But I fear it will roar it's ugly head once again for GT6 seeing we haven't seen a single vid with standing starts. :(

I'll be massively disappointed if all the races end up being single file chase the rabbit in GT6; but sadly I think we might end up getting a bunch of them. Some of the more recent seasonals would be excellent races lap by lap if you weren't also trying to overcome a 30 second gap (a good example: muscle car seasonal at nordschliefe in a stock Z28). Bring back 16 car grids and standing starts; with a 'one shot' qualifying lap.

Goodwood is a standing start :P

I dont really care about those non rolling start races, I find it fun to try and overtake cleanly (with no contact) everyone.

I don't even mind rolling starts that much, sure cuts down on pile-ups in the first corner, but those 30+-gap seasonals are ridiculous. Having to be 7 seconds faster than the leader on each lap to finally catch him on the last corner isn't racing, it's like an endless nightmarish exhibition where you prove that your are that much better than everyone else on the track.

I hope so, given in the trailer with Brands Hatch they showed the grid and everything. We will see though.

I think that you have the wrong idea because you are "too" used to run with bad AI drivers. With good AI drivers it could be really different!

For example, after the qualifying you have the 3rd place. The race starts. After the first turn you are overtaken by a car, now you're in the 4th place, then you fight to overtake the front car, but also to keep your position ! During the whole race you fight in/with the group and that's what is exciting :D:nervous::odd::confused::gtpflag:!!

Starting in the last position with a car really faster than the group has absolutely no interests, it is not fun at all, it's like doing hot lapping during a track day :boggled: Of course you feel like a jedi because in 3 laps you overtook 12 cars but I don't see the point except in Mario Kart...

Quali would be a good reintroduction. Those that like to catch the field from the back, skip it and you do start from the back. I really don't see why this would be anything other than a good thing.

In addition to qualifying for career mode races, every racing game should allow you to customize the grid with any cars and any starting order you like in a "Free Race" mode. That one feature added untold bucketloads of replay value to my favorite racing game, Enthusia Professional Racing. A Best-Motoring-style "80s Sportscars Battle" on Tsukuba? Germany vs Italy? Red-painted RWDs versus blue-painted FWDs in a "team" battle? Wagons versus convertibles? Attempting to lap a VW Beetle with a JGTC car before the VW can complete its first lap? Anything is possible.

No no no... Seasonals are meant to be harder races - that's where the humongous cash prize comes from. You're supposed to start at the back, it only makes sense.

That's why I say before we get grid start and qualifying we should get better AI. The way it is today I prefer coming from behind. :D

Why not a combination of both? As some events there are standing starts others rolling, we can be like "Old El Paso" (mexican food in a box here in oz) and have hard and soft tortillas in the one pack, best of both worlds then!
