Sorry if this isn't in the right location, but i've golded 4 out of the 5 grand tour challenges.

The one i haven't golded, is the first one, which seems literally impossible.

I was wondering if anyone has golded the first stage of the Grand Tour, and if so... how? lol

I've only been able to get full golds in the Kart challenge. However, I just got my Driving Force GT yesterday, so that might change :)

I've got them all, although I am well practiced at Eiger, so its not too surprising.

I found the 4th test to be the hardest, if only because I am seemingly blind in the dark.

The 2nd test is also incredibly easy. :odd:

I did gold it, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPBFTFIe_es

What I did is, well driving a lot lol and turn your traction control off and be very sensible with throttle. If you can get out of the tunnel between 55.9 and 56.2 seconds, then you have serious chances of winning.

I spent 3.5 hours on this last night, got it when i was about to switch off, the only tips i have is you need to be in the tunnel just as the clock goes from 49.99 to 50 and when exiting the last corner change to 3rd gear asap.

If you are hoping for a good premiun gift car like i was, don't bother you get nothing !!!!

Sometimes you should enjoy the event itself rather than simply do it for the prize car. That's what made the 1000 Miles! race in GT4 so great; I imagine the Grand Tour is something similar.

To be fair, most special events don't win prize cars. But what all events lack in prize cars, they make up for in prize money and A-spec points.

The Grand Tour wins you a few hundred thousand Cr. Surely you can go and buy yourself a prize car with that.

I have, i saved the replay of it seeing as its been my toughest challenge so far :grumpy:.

Smoothness is the main thing here which is hard seeing as i had tc off. I also use a DFGT wheel.

----
1st part:

The first right i took in 1st gear (carefully) as the gearing is really responsive and i can accelerate quick before turning left again. (speed through these first hairpins are just under 40mph)

The next right hairpin is probably the most important, brake a little bit late (but not too much) so you're turning a bit wide and slow down to about 35mph (this should happen after the braking zone so you're half way around this corner). The car should easily turn sharply at this speed whilst being able to accelerate in 1st or 2nd (carefully again so you're not drifting!) and stick more to the right hand side of the track already setup for the downhill left towards the wooden bridge.

This part may take several attempts as you need to make the left turn whilst at 70-80% throttle in 2nd, as soon as the car is heading straight you can put the pedal down for the 'straight'.

I know that when the car is at the end of the bridge you want to be at around 35 seconds on the dot, otherwise you're too slow and will be up to a second off 1:17 or whatever the time has to be.

----

2nd part:

After the straight is a wider hairpin to the right that'll end up towards the tunnel, slow at the braking point like normal whilst starting to turn gently with the racing line, let go of the brake so the car is in the upper rev range in 2nd and hold that speed (without slipping/drifting).

At about 2/3rds of the way around theres a little white road or something on the corner near the apex where you can slowly start to ease in the power whilst keeping control, change up to 3rd just before the redline to accelerate towards the tunnel.

When entering the tunnel (shadow hits the car) you want to be 50 seconds or below, anything above it including 50.523 for example is most likely too slow or it wont give you enough time to drive carefully enough in the last corners.

After the tunnel slow down a little and turn right carefully in 3rd instead of 4th, ease the power in carefully so you're accelerating without making the car slide at the crest in the road and you can probably change to 4th for the left.

---

Last corner:

This is the make or break point! Brake just after the racing line says so and try to keep your car on the tarmac till you can turn right, hold the revs after braking in 2nd and use good throttle control around the corner so the car doesn't slip.

Half way around the corner where it would start to sharpen up again you should be changing up to 3rd and keep a smooth line cutting the grass on the left kink just before the finish, smooth power delivery is vital and keep the car heading straight.

Finish!

Hope this helps you i know a lot of people will struggle to get gold as well.

My time was 1:16.988 or something like that.

AAAh! I'm stuck on the rally one! (going through them one by one) my best is a 1:55.5 and i don't know how to drive any quicker!

Maybe im too used to track driving for this rally nonsense! ;)

Any tips? tc off? cut corners?

Being 1.5 seconds off is a real let-down for me :(

Edit: Im using a DFGT

I just did the eiger nordwald in 1:16:572 :D With the Alfa Romeo, ofc.

I literally did like 10 laps 1'54.1 - .3 before out of nowhere I ran a 1'52.9!!

The tip is to have driving line on, and you actually want to follow the line, maybe not the braking advice the but keep your car on that line. Also try not to drift much, if you need anything but a small amount of countersteer your drifting too much. But if you dont have a slight drift you will understeer. So Its a fine balance with the throttle and steering input to keep the car in that 4 wheel drift with the front tyres almost straight ahead, pulling the car through the turn. Try that and let me know how you go. If you have further trouble I can probably re run it and give you the replay 👍

Basically that helps, i tried doing the one handed steering technique like on initial d and now at 1:54.4 :)

Thanks for the help there because before on some corners i was at a right angle keeping the car on the track.

Just that little bit more to go...

Yeah the first Grand Tour in the 8C was a mission, the lap was either lost or won in the esses, you need just a touch of oversteer. Managed a 1:16.7xx.

I turned the brightness all the way up on my tv and the game brightness all the way up also. After about 5-7 tries I golded it. Probably the most annoying challenge by far. I golded the 8C challenge in about 30min, that one was enjoyable in comparison.

Not trying to be cute, but quite a few of us were golding all these before christmas and there were a couple of extensive threads on tips and setups.. worth searching for.

I golde every Grand Tour challenge using a DS3. For eiger I had to set TC at 7. I always lost precious time after the tunnel.

I can't gold the rally and the eiger events. I'm just rubbish at the rally and the Alfa Romeo just seems too heavy to get round Eiger (in my hands anyway!) The Toscana road race I did about 4 times before I won it. I kept finishing half a second off of a Ferrari F40. Eventually I managed it by throwing the car round the corners hoping it would stick.

On Eiger the line is realy important. It was my favourite track on GT5P and i´m still holding 2 world records with the F40 and Amuse there. :)

My time with the Alfa 1.15,468 :sly:
So there´s enough space to make mistakes and still getting gold.
Settings are in the Youtube description.

Finaly, I've just goldened the Eiger with a 1.16.533. Active steering - strong, TC - 1, ABS - 1, Driving line - On, and a DFGT + lots of practise :)

adjusting Brake Bias, in game, helps a ton for Eiger. failed 1,000 attempts at default brakes, golded in 3 attempts after Brake Bias adjust, damn you PD for not documenting this, or allowing Bias change in your simple race start menu.

I have a DFGT but haven't ever done this. How and what settings? I've seen something on that turn knob on the lower right, but never used. Thanks!

Never mind--got it! Helped me finally gold the darn Elise challenge tonight, too.
