Ok good news first im finally getting a g25 wheel. :):):)

ok now to the questions:

How well do the pedals stay in place?
would they need to be mounted down?

anyone who can answer those questions thanks:D

They stay in place very well if you place the paddle box on a piece of carpet. There is a clamp with something that I best can describe as little platic nails at the front end, on the bottom, of the paddle box.

No need to mount them or fix them on something, unless you have very strong legs and you use them in an aggressive way.

if you have carpet, release the latch on the bottom so it grips it, rather that use your imagination, i use two 45lb lifting plates behind it doesnt move.

Im sure there's a bunch of threads around here already pertaining to this question, just search it up, and you might just get some good ideas.

The pedal unit isn't exactly a lightweight, either. In the case of a slick hardwood floor, you could try buying a small carpet, then sit on one end with your chair to keep it in place. Cheap and easy "mount." :)

new question, my g25 will be here monday. I did some reading on how to set it up and supposedly it needs to plugin to the leftmost usb port. Heres the problem, my leftmost usb port doesnt work. Would it be ok to use the 3rd one? I hear the 2nd and 4th ports wont work with the g25.

I don't have my ps3 anymore but I remember that the G25 didn't work with certain ports when playing GT4.

I do believe that you can use other ports besides the first if you're playing GT5p.

The G25 should work from USB port number 2 without a hitch. I made my own pedal mount for my G25, I had previously used it with my DFGT. The G25 pedals are big and heavy, it uses 6mm screws (upto 6 I think) for mounting of the pedals. I prefer to angle my pedals in the configuration I have, its more ergonomic. My legs, knees, ankles don't get tired or painful after long driving sessions. See my signature below for my setup.

Added: Not sure if you have used a wheel before? Give the G25 a chance, any wheel takes practice to learn and the G25 is no ordinary wheel since you are adding a clutch and shifter into the mix. Also the button layout takes some getting used to since they are not labeled on the G25. As far as mounting the pedals, this will be dependant on how aggressively you use your pedals while driving.

As you have said on another forum about port #1 not working use port#3 I have the 60 GB PS3 and with it plugged into port#2 or 4 you could move around in the menu but once in race nothing! Now this was playing GT4 I have not really tried to use ports 2/4 with GT5P (it may work) I just stayed with port #1. Now before you go ripping into your G25 wheel when you get home let me give you a bit of advice> Don't go ripping into the box because the wheel is packed VERY VERY VERY tight be extra careful taking it out of the box the cord on the pedals are looped at one end and I've read some people have damaged them before they got to play so be EXTRA careful removing you wheel! Have fun.

I have an album in my profile with some setups for the G25 wheel feel free to print you one off.

thanks alot you guys are a big help.

edit: WOW after a day of playing a bunch of different games i must say this is pretty challenging driving with this wheel. I think im at the point where alot of people would say forget it and go back to the 6axis but i think i should be back to my usual self by this weekend.
