All I see in the forums so far that are about players are about rammers and all kinds of crackheads. Why don't we deviate from that a little bit and show some appreciation to guys like these :)
After all, they're the ones who deserve the spotlight, not the bad drivers.

I don’t have a video to go along with this but last week I was in one of the Yamagiwa + Miyabi daily races that was turning out to be more like bumper cars than racing. This player, bumped me in the 2nd gear corner where Yamagiwa and Miyabi are joined hard enough to cause me to spin out. I wound up in last place and was red with vengeance. When I caught up to him on the next lap, I exacted my revenge by spinning him out on the corner right after the corner where he bumped me. Unfortunately, I was too daft to realize that he was “apologizing” by slowing down and moving over to let me pass, but I did realize what he was doing a split second before impact. It was the first and only time I’ve sought revenge like this and I’ve felt like a moron and dirty ever since. I’ve vowed to never again be the type of driver that seeks revenge against someone. I tried to message this player after the race to apologize but they don’t allow messages from players that aren’t on their friends list.

This person, if I’m allowed to name the player, was SKM3HOULES.

Well, I'm honoured, sir. I'm usually right in the middle of the accident, but I've been doing a lot of avoiding lately, and I do try to leave lots of room for side-by-side action. I think on a recent Gr3 race at Interlagos, I was alongside someone from turn 2 right way to the left-hand hairpin. Good fun. :D

Had a really fun daily race last night which ended with a very tight group from 2nd through 5th (I ended up fifth, but was very happy since I qualified 10th). Kudos to Hitokiri_03, satterwhiterandy, and Shinrek for keeping it clean through the final corners because we were really close together and it made for an exciting finish!

(okay, looking more closely at the replay, there may have been some contact in the final corner...but not with me)

We all have our regrets. Hopefully SKM3HOULES has an account here and sees this post :D he deserves praise, and you too, for admitting that you are not always right and make mistakes. Not a lot of people can do that

Today at the Bathurst Gr.3 race i had a fight with a Englishman. He knocked me off at the fast righthander after the last straight. I was furious, also because he stept on the gass and took off again! Then at the next straight after the first corner i saw him driving slow. He was letting me past for the last lap and we raced further on. That felt good. A honest person. I felt sorry for feeling furious.... he also appologised right after the race. A real gentleman.
I know everybody makes mistakes, but that's no problem when you know how to make them right.

I know we are not always clean, but atleast we are fair! I hope most of us are...

We are all competitive by nature, some more than others, if we weren't we wouldn't be racing these games to begin with. So it's always nice when someone can temper their enthusiasm, and remember good sportsmanship. We all make mistakes, even real races with professionals have incidents, but this isn't actual motor sport with international reputations and fortunes in prize money at stake. It's just games, meant to be fun.

I think having a wall of fame for drivers we admire, rather than a wall of shame for those that are bad (need a very big wall) is a good idea.

cheers
BF

You are not alone, I hit someone by accident, not badly but meant I took first place from him and went to second. (Believe it or not a rogue cone that ended up on the track caused it). On the next straight i pulled over and slowed down to let him by but making sure I would stay ahead of 3rd and he simply tried to drive me into the barrier by slowing and hitting me side on instead of passing :-( I tried though.

Could do with a way of letting cars know you want them to pass

(same vid I posted on GT Memes)

Honesty is the best policy :D
Maybe like the one you replied to, he must've felt bad when he regained control of his thoughts. It's not uncommon to get blinded by anger. Kudos for not getting frustrated after him crashing to you though!

I don't let cars back through for exactly that reason. Have been stung every time I've tried (then it's vehicular warfare).

I must admit I did think I could just go on and win the race and blame the cone! No perfect answer I suppose but I guess the first think is to try not to crash in to anyone. PD need to remove any cone that ends up on the track as would happen in real life.

Btw that cone caused accident in your vid would have really annoyed me!

Yeah or when you are slowing to serve a penalty, both have caused unnecessary issues for me. It's not like using the indicators or hazards is an option because the trolls do that all the time for nothing and so if you did it the other drivers would still think you were being an arse.

A few nights ago I had some great Gr4 sport races round Nurb GP with "thesteg". He was quick and super super clean. I don't think he's a member on here but a "hats off" to your driving sir. Top clean racer.

There were some others in those races but names escape me at the minute.

Just had a race yesterday with kazutomo_games yesterday, really fast and really clean! Managed to qualify faster than him but his consistency was off the charts. One tiny mistake from me was all he needed to win that race. Some respectful driving as well :)

We all make mistakes. We dont all show respect.

Great thread ! Some positive vibes on how good things are going online is always welcome. When I make a mistake I always try to let the person pass. Sometimes difficult because of more cars behind but than after the race a remark is good.

I like the idea of being able to rate people after a race, like eBay reviews around fairness. Totally subjective and so would never work but still if it could then it would reward clean drivers and could be better or complimentary to to SR.

Too open to abuse...

Yeah, as he said, it's too subjective to work. Some hotheaded people might abuse it, or some plain trolls. I honestly already like the chat system with phrase predictions. A simple "Thanks for the fun/clean race!" is much better than a 5-star rating imo :)

Why? When they only allow you to + someone, you can see who is very clean. So you can't - people.. i think that's the only option to keep it fair. People with no or a low number of + could have just started playing GTS or are just not as clean as others. But no bashing....

The problem is that the people you usually get in trouble with are the ones that leave the room as soon as the race ended (probably to avoid the public shaming) 🤬
Agree. And sometimes their profiles are private so you can't message them either. But I also think that by putting a rating system some people would abuse that to oblivion and cause fair racers to get a low reputation. It's sort of a catch-22 situation
