Hi Guys,
I am starting to tune my cars more and I would like to know what tracks you guys are using to test your tunes on?

(1) Small, lots of corners
(2) Medium, with a bit of everything
(3) Long, with everything and longest straights

Thanks
Nigel

(1) Deep Forest
(2) Trial Mountain
(3) Grand Valley
But that's just me.
Top Gear Test track is nice for flat track testing, Tsukuba is nice for tight turns and Cape Ring Periphery is a nice stability test in the corkscrew.

Grand vally speedway is the perfect course. It has everything with small tight turns, wide turns, and big straights. It is also flat with slight elevation changes here and there. I use that for everything first. After that It depends if you want the car to be a serious racer on flat tracks, bumpy tracks, speed tracks etc. Trial mountain has lots of hills and is going to need different suspension than a smoother track, but a tune for there won't be as fast as a dedicated to for smoother tracks since the suspension is softer.

Thanks for suggestions guys, I had been doing Deep forest and Grand Valley East so I will certainly try the others.

Thanks
Nigel

From a novice.
Cape Ring
Its got everything from elevation, fast corners, quick changes of direction and hairpins. If you can get a car around the ring for 5 laps at a time without spinning or excessive tyre wear then that tune seems to work on any other track.
Only problem is its a long lap, not nordschleife long but none the less its a long lap.

I like Grand Valley East Reverse. Short enough for good lap time comparisons. Turn one/two combo is a great test for the LSD. And, the final 180 before the long straight will test the balance between the LSD and the suspension tune.

Trail Mountain or High Speed Ring

Sometimes I have to choose a car that fits the regulations of an online event. Sometimes I have an idea directly after reading the event-restrictions, sometimes it's hard to find a good car.
This is what I do :)

Buy it, tune it to full options and finally detune it to the restrictions. Then I change the car set up like the way I think it will drive the best way. The first lap is very important.
When I drive on High Speed Ring, I know I'm okay when driving the first lap under 1:09 with a 480PP car. After that I will do the same with the other cars. Many times the quickest car is also the car with the best handling and performance :) Finally test the car with different set ups and finetuning it !

With this kind of testing, I'll try to make my own list with laptimes vs PP :) High Speed Ring is my favorite track, fast straight, fast corners, 2 very slow corners and a middle speed corner at the end !

I test on either Deep Forest or Laguna, as well as Trial Mountain and the Ring. I occasionally test on my custom course Sun Crest Raceway.

I start on Trial Mountain, and then will go to Deep Forest and Tsukuba. I use Trial to get a good suspension and LSD tune, Forest to test braking strength, and Tsukuba for 1-3 gearing. Eventually it all ends up on Cape Ring (full track) and I tune my 4-final gear hear.

Unless they are track specific tunes, I use Spa-Francorchamps as it has everything I could need in a track, and I use Nordscheife as a confirmation track
